AITA For not attending a dying family members party when the host cheated on his wife for 20 years

There is a “get together” of “family members” that are flying in to celebrate my aunt and uncle-in-law’s 60th anniversary. My uncle-in-law is not doing great health wise, and is in his later years.

My wife, myself, and our two kids, are invited to this “celebration” that is hosted by the son (my cousin) of the couple that is celebrating their 60th anniversary. This cousin, cheated on his wife for 20 years with various prostitutes, even giving her STD’s and lying about the cause. She found out, but still forgave him.

My cousin’s wife, prior to forgiving him, reached out to my wife, crying, stating she was going to hurt herself, asked for help, etc., but completely disregarded my wife’s help and advice, returning back to her cheating husband, as if none of it happened.

The other “family” members who flying in, do not make an effort to contact myself, my wife, or my kids. No texts, phone calls, even ad much as sending a birthday card EVER to our 6 year old kids once in their lives.

Am I the asshole for not wanting to attend this “celebration” even though my uncle-in-law could not be around for much longer, and this could be the last opportunity to see him?
