London Underground stopped in the tunnel announcements

I just got back from London, and on the Underground, every time the train was stopped in the tunnel for more than 30 seconds there was an automated announcement: “this train is being held at a red signal and should be moving shortly. We apologize for the delay” or something like that.

Small touch, but it adds to how professional the system feels. Wouldn’t mind if we started doing that on the B and D lines.

Parking maximums near subway stations?

Just read about a new proposed residential complex near Wilshire/Fairfax that’ll have 2800 units and 2100 parking spots, even though it wasn’t required to have any parking.

I know this is a radical opinion, but I feel like with SB 79 and AB 2097, we should be implementing parking MAXIMUMS for new developments near B and D line stations, say 0.5 spaces per unit.

I mean we spend billions of dollars to build high quality transit. We shouldn’t let developers continue to build car-centric housing nearby.
