Greetings! This week has seen the release of a new character, Hilda! A maid the world never truly saw — her reason for fighting was written in every shared night with the girl inside that golden cage.

In-game, she wields an array of autonomous kitchen gu- I mean Dirtexpellers that ensure her surroundings are free of dirt, grease and Filthoids.

Roles: DPS, Weapon DMG, Skill DMG

Skills:

You innately carry 2 Heavy Dirtexpellers that float beside you. All Dirtexpellers periodically shoot at enemies within range, dealing Pyro Damage.

  • Automatic Sanitizing - Passive: When dodging, reload your ranged weapon instantly and gain a buff that increases the ATK Speed of all your Dirtexpellers, the rotation speed of Pyrolytic Cleaning, and the ATK Speed of your ranged weapons.

  • Pyrolytic Cleaning - Combat skill: Command all your Dirtexpellers to spin around you and fire short-range lasers that deal Pyro damage. This drains Sanity continuously, and ends when you run out or cast this skill again.

  • Wholehearted Service - Ultimate: Deal Pyro AoE Damage around you and disarm all enemies hit. For each enemy hit, summon 1 Light Dirtexpeller for a duration, and refresh the duration of all your existing Light Dirtexpellers. You can carry up to 6 Light Dirtexpellers.

Passive upgrades:

  • ATK +50%

  • Weapon Multishot +37.5%

  • Your Dirtexpellers have a chance to fire an additional projectile, scaling with your Ranged Weapon Multishot. Increase the damage of Pyrolytic Cleaning, scaling with your Ranged Weapon Multishot.

  • When deployed as a Combat Partner, increase ATK for self and Pyro allies.

Introns:

  • Lv. 1: Increase Dodge Attempt maximum by 4. Increase the effect of the buff from Automatic Sanitizing.

  • Lv. 2: Increase the range of Pyrolytic Cleaning. When defeating an enemy, gain a stacking DMG Boost for a duration.

  • Lv. 3: Pyrolytic Cleaning Level +2; Automatic Sanitizing Level +1.

  • Lv. 4: When using Wholehearted Service, summon 2 additional Light Dirtexpellers. Your Light Dirtexpellers now last forever.

Weekly Build Discussion: Truffle and Filbert (2026-06-22)

Each week, we will choose a topic and open a weeklong discussion for building & theorycrafting. On most weeks, the chosen topic will be a playable character, but sometimes we may also discuss other types of gear that offer a meaningful decision space. You will be able to find a list of all past weekly discussions in the Subreddit Wiki.

────────────────

Greetings! The Umbro Phoxhunter Summit is still several weeks away and there's not many Umbro characters left to discuss, which leaves us with some room to focus on characters of other elements that currently see some gameplay relevance. One of them would be Truffle and Filbert, Commissary for the Elysian Church! You can meet and unlock her pretty early in the game's story, and as long as she's around, you will never go hungry.

In-game, she can take on a supportive role by providing heals and damage buffs to her allies, or she can also ride into the fray herself and have Filbert pummel her foes. She's one of the best supports for DPS characters like Flora and Psyche, who currently see play in the ongoing Immersive Theatre: Emsemble Act event.

Roles: Support, Healing, Max HP

Skills:

  • Chop-Chop, Commissaries! - Passive: For every second you move, gain a stacking buff for a limited duration that increases Damage Dealt and reduces Damage Taken.

  • Trotters Trot-Trot - Combat skill: Effect varies on whether Tummy Full, Hands Full is currently active:

    • Normally: Press this skill to command Filbert to charge forward, dealing Anemo Damage to enemies in his path, and Anemo AoE Damage when hitting an obstacle. Additionally, grant a heal and a damage buff to yourself and allies.

    • While Tummy Full, Hands Full is active: Hold this skill to run at increased speed, continuously consuming Sanity and dealing Anemo Damage to enemies in your path. When hitting an obstacle, deal Anemo AoE Damage around you and end this skill.

  • Tummy Full, Hands Full - Ultimate: Ride on Filbert and gain full points of the Passion For Work resource. Lose points every second unless Trotters Trot-Trot is currently active. When you move through enemies, deal Anemo Damage to them and restore points of Passion For Work. You lose access to your weapons; melee attack inputs will instead command Filbert to deal Anemo AoE damage in front of you. When you run out of Passion For Work or use this skill again, this skill ends and you cast Trotters Trot-Trot.

Passive upgrades:

  • HP +50%

  • Skill Duration +15%

  • When dealing Skill DMG, there is a chance to drop 1 Ammo Supply Chest (ammo drop).

  • When deployed as a Combat Partner, if 2 or more characters on the team share the same element, increase Resolve for self and allies.

Introns:

  • Lv. 1: You lose points of the Passion For Work resource more slowly.

  • Lv. 2: When using a skill, your allies gain an Attack boost scaling with your Max HP for a limited duration.

  • Lv. 3: Trotters Trot-Trot Level +2; Chop-Chop, Commissaries! Level +1.

  • Lv. 4: Increase the stack cap of the buff from Chop-Chop, Commissaries!. Gain stacks when casting Tummy Full, Hands Full.

  • Lv. 5: Tummy Full, Hands Full Level +2; Chop-Chop, Commissaries! Level +1.

  • Lv. 6: When picking up HP drops, Sanity drops, or ammo drops, gain a stacking Skill Intensity buff for a limited duration.

────────────────

Building for the Emsemble Act:

  • How good is this character in the main slot, or as a Combat Partner? How well does the Combat Partner AI utilize this character?

  • Which attributes are important for this character, and in which order?

  • Which Demon Wedges are mandatory on this character, which ones are situational, and which ones are a trap?

Weekly Build Discussion: Phoxhunter Umbro (2026-06-15)

Each week, we will choose a topic and open a weeklong discussion for building & theorycrafting. On most weeks, the chosen topic will be a playable character, but sometimes we may also discuss other types of gear that offer a meaningful decision space. You will be able to find a list of all past weekly discussions in the Subreddit Wiki.

────────────────

Greetings! This week's discussion is about the Umbro Phoxhunter/Protagonist/MC/Vita/whatever-you-like-to-call-them. If you're wondering why the Phoxhunter is appearing in this series so soon again, make sure you're all caught up with the latest story quest. Their element is now as ambiguous as their name or gender, and this new Umbro variant is all about hacking and slashing enemies in melee range, but still with some of the supportive qualities that the Phoxhunter is known for.

Roles: DPS, Weapon DMG

All of the your skills make use of the Tenebrous Hand, which is summoned by the Nightwalk combat skill. Your skills can cause it to attack, dealing Umbro AoE DMG in front of you. This counts as Normal Attack DMG.

Skills:

  • Soul Refrain - Passive: Gain the following:

    • While you have a Tenebrous Hand, every 8 Melee Normal Attacks cause it to attack once.

    • You don't lose Combo Points when casting skills or performing Ranged Attacks.

    • Your Combo Duration is increased.

    • When you consume Combo Points with a Charged Attack, grant Combo Points to other allies based on the amount consumed.

  • Nightwalk - Combat skill: Deal Umbro AoE DMG around you and summon a Tenebrous Hand. If you already have one, it attacks once.

  • Hymn of the Misty Sea - Ultimate: You must have 30% or more HP to cast this skill. Consume some HP to deal Umbro AoE DMG around you, heal other allies, and apply a buff to all allies that deals additional Umbro damage.

    • If you have a Tenebrous Hand, it attacks once and all allies gain Combo Points, then the Tenebrous Hand is removed.

Passive upgrades:

  • ATK +50%

  • Skill Duration +15%

  • Nearby enemies take increased Umbro damage. While you have a Tenebrous Hand, when an enemy takes Umbro DMG from other allies, your Tenebrous Hand attacks once.

  • When deployed as a Combat Partner, increase Weapon DMG for self and allies.

Introns:

  • Lv. 1: When Soul Refrain causes your Tenebrous Hand to attack, gain Combo Points.

  • Lv. 2: When casting Hymn of the Misty Sea, create a field centered on you for a duration. Enemies within this field have their movement speed reduced and periodically take damage scaling with your ATK.

  • Lv. 3: Nightwalk Level +2; Soul Refrain Level +1.

  • Lv. 4: Soul Refrain requires fewer Melee Normal Attacks to cause your Tenebrous Hand to attack.

  • Lv. 5: Hymn of the Misty Sea Level +2; Soul Refrain Level +1.

  • Lv. 6: When Soul Refrain causes your Tenebrous Hand to attack, it attacks 3 times instead and you gain PEN.

Weekly Build Discussion: Flora (2026-06-08)

Each week, we will choose a topic and open a weeklong discussion for building & theorycrafting. On most weeks, the chosen topic will be a playable character, but sometimes we may also discuss other types of gear that offer a meaningful decision space. You will be able to find a list of all past weekly discussions in the Subreddit Wiki.

────────────────

Back after a break! As we enter the glory days of the Umbro element, our first character to look at is also the latest - Flora! You met her in the northern land of iron and snow. She hides her uncertainty behind her pride, as she pursues a hidden treasure and buries her unrest deep inside. In-game, she's a DPS character who revolves heavily around dealing melee weapon damage, juggling multiple buffs to launch special attacks.

Roles: DPS, Weapon DMG

Skills:

  • Invitation of Blossoms - Passive: When your Melee Weapon DMG crits, transform the target into a harmless marionette and gain a stacking Reprise buff. When the target has 6 or more stacks of the Thorns buff, your Melee Weapon Charged Attack is replaced with a special Charged Attack that consumes all stacks of Thorns to deal Umbro AoE DMG.

  • Petal Pirouette - Combat skill: Tap this skill to slash once, dealing Umbro DMG to enemies in front of you. Hold this skill to dash forward and slash up to 5 times. This counts as Melee Weapon DMG and grants a stacking Symphony buff. At max stacks, this skill costs no Sanity. Stack of this buff are consumed in 2 ways:

    • When a Normal Attack hits an enemy for the first time, consume 1 stack of this buff to deal additional Umbro AoE DMG in front of you. This counts as Melee Weapon DMG.

    • When using the special Charged Attack from Invitation of Blossoms, consume 5 stacks of this buff to deal additional Umbro AoE DMG around you. This counts as Melee Weapon DMG.

  • Blossom Ball - Ultimate: Drain Sanity to create a field that follows you. This skill ends when it's recast or when you run out of Sanity. While this skill is active:

    • Increase your Melee Weapon CRIT DMG.

    • Gain Hitstun immunity.

    • Every second, if you have any stacks of the Reprise buff, trigger Waltz: Consume 1 stack to summon a doll at the edge of your field. This doll dashes forward, deals Umbro DMG to enemies in its path, and grants you a stacking Thorns buff. You lose all Thorns stacks when this skill ends.

      • If you don't have any stacks or are using the special Charged Attack from Invitation of Blossoms, gain 1 stack instead.

Passive upgrades:

  • Morale +15%

  • Weapon CRIT Chance +50%

  • Restore 1 Sanity whenever you consume a stack of your Symphony or Reprise buffs.

  • When deployed as a Combat Partner, increase ATK for self and Umbro allies.

Introns:

  • Lv. 1: Casting Petal Pirouette grants additional stacks of the Symphony buff. Consuming a stack of that buff grants 1 stack of the Reprise buff. While you have any Symphony stacks, your Weapon CRIT Rate in increased.

  • Lv. 2: Invitation of Blossoms grants additional stacks of the Reprise buff. Waltz triggers more often scaling with your amount of Reprise stacks.

  • Lv. 3: Petal Pirouette Level +2; Invitation of Blossoms Level +1.

  • Lv. 4: Whenever you consume a stack of your Symphony or Reprise buffs, restore additional Sanity and gain additional Combo Points.

  • Lv. 5: Blossom Ball Level +2; Invitation of Blossoms Level +1.

  • Lv. 6: While Blossom Ball is active, your PEN is increased. When using the special Charged Attack from Invitation of Blossoms, consume as many stacks of the Reprise buff as necessary to get max stacks of the Thorns buff. After using that Charged Attack, trigger Waltz 5 times. These triggers don't consume any Reprise stacks.

────────────────

Silver Torrent, Rising Star - Preview Livestream Recap

Greetings Phoxhunters! For anyone who couldn't make the time to watch today's livestream, I've prepared a written recap of everything that was announced. At the bottom of this post you'll also find an event calendar covering the next few months.

Today we're joined by Decabear (producer), Vincent (technical artist), and Lichee (environment artist). XD couldn't make it this time, so instead the team brought in Uni, a new game designer on the team, who worked on some of the system and gameplay design for DNA.

Silver Torrent, Rising Star goes live on June 2nd! You can watch the video trailer here.

Plans for DNA's future

Development on Duet Night Abyss has been moving forward steadily behind the scenes; several upcoming versions are already in production. Things like environments need a long lead time. The developers are also working on lots of new gameplay systems and new features at the same time, and they will be rolled out gradually in future updates. DNA has aimed to be a game that's fun and easy to get into, and worth staying with for the long run. The developers are aware that there may be questions and doubts along the way, but they assure you that DNA will keep moving forward step by step. For that purpose, they have shared a first look at some content that is still in development:

  • Ada, an upcoming new fantasy-inspired character with copy-based powers. Her design takes inspiration from water spirits. Her story will unfold in future "Twilight Arc" chapters

  • Falsi, another upcoming character who appeared briefly in Twilight Arc Chapter 1. Stay tuned for her story later on

  • Ice spirit-themed skin for Ada

  • Limited demon & vampire-themed skins for Camilla and Hilda

  • Sea-themed skin for Berenica

Other content that is in development includes, but is not limited to: more stories about factions within the Elysian Church, a cutscene replay feature, guild-exclusive boss raids, improved profile customization, a camera system overhaul, ways to strengthen older characters, updates to Mystic Maze, more character skins, more weapon skins, more mounts, performance improvements (especially for mobile), and...

"What's with that picture of Filbert and the mech?" - "Haha, that one's a secret for now"

Before we end the stream...

"We also want to take a moment to address the previous security incident. First of all, to every player affected and to everyone who felt disappointed, we sincerely apologize. For the incident itself, and for how we handled it at the beginning. We know we did not meet your expectations. We take full responsibility for that. Duet Night Abyss is our first title, and throughout development, like many game studios, we have faced ongoing external security risks. That is not an excuse. At the same time, we recognize that in some areas we still lacked experience and judgement. After what happened on March 18th, we immediately carried out a full security review. Since then, we have made several targeted improvements. These include real-time monitoring and alerts for core systems and critical data, tighter controls on external access, stricter minimum access permissions, and stronger restrictions and whitelist management for sensitive interfaces and ports. After these changes, the game is now running normally and remains stable. We will continue to monitor the situation and respond where necessary. We fully understand that earning your trust and keeping the game secure is a long-term responsibility that takes constant effort. Going forward, without affecting the gameplay experience, we will continue to improve our security measures and operational management. We will do everything we can to provide a safer experience for everyone. Thank you for your patience, feedback, and support."

Weekly Build Discussion: Fina (2026-05-18)

Each week, we will choose a topic and open a weeklong discussion for building & theorycrafting. On most weeks, the chosen topic will be a playable character, but sometimes we may also discuss other types of gear that offer a meaningful decision space. You will be able to find a list of all past weekly discussions in the Subreddit Wiki.

────────────────

Hi everyone, sorry for missing last week! This week we find ourselves at the Lumino Phoxhunter Summit, and there's a Lumino character who might play a significant role in some team comps: Fina! After losing both her parents to tragic circumstances, she was taken in by Outsider, who helped her experience the childhood she had missed, and start writing her own story. In-game, she boosts her allies' damage and plays with the elements to always hit the enemies where it hurts.

Roles: Support

Skills:

  • Bad Sorcerers Hate Sunlight! - Passive: Grants additional Lumino damage that lasts forever. Using On a Warm Afternoon or having an active field from Let the Tea Party Begin! grants a stacking buff that grants additional Lumino damage for a duration.

  • On a Warm Afternoon - Combat skill: Deal Lumino AoE damage in front of you and reduce the movement speed of any targets struck. While the field of Let the Tea Party Begin! is active, using this skill relocates that field to your current position, expands its range to match that field, and increases its damage.

  • Let the Tea Party Begin! - Ultimate: Create a special field in front of you. This field continuously comsumes your Sanity and ends when you run out of Sanity or when this skill is held. The field will be imbued with an element; all allies will deal an instance of damage in that element when the field appears or shifts. The field also periodically deals damage of the imbued element to enemies inside it. Using this skill again while the field is active cycles the imbued element in this order: Nightingale (Hydro), Hound (Pyro), Unicorn (Electro), Butterfly (Anemo).

Passive upgrades:

  • Skill Range +30%

  • Skill Duration +15%

  • Using On a Warm Afternoon increases all allies' damage based on the number of buff stacks from Bad Sorcerers Hate Sunlight!.

  • When deployed as a Combat Partner, increases Weapon Damage for self and allies proficient in Swords or Assault Rifles.

Introns:

  • Lv. 1: Allies buffed by the field from Let the Tea Party Begin! gain PEN for each type of additional damage effect they possess.

  • Lv. 2: Increase the maximum number of stacks for the buff from Bad Sorcerers Hate Sunlight!, and gain more stacks from your skills.

  • Lv. 3: On a Warm Afternoon Level +2; Bad Sorcerers Hate Sunlight! Level +1.

  • Lv. 4: The stacking buff from Bad Sorcerers Hate Sunlight! now also increases your Skill Intensity and Skill Range.

  • Lv. 5: Let the Tea Party Begin! Level +2; Bad Sorcerers Hate Sunlight! Level +1.

  • Lv. 6: While the field from Let the Tea Party Begin! is active, Fina gains bonus CRIT Chance on her weapon damage based on the amount of Bonus Effects the target is suffering, and the elemental type of the weapon damage is converted to the target's weakness type.

Some swear by the drinks she mixes. Others marvel at her way with people. And for many, it is the secrets around her that keep them coming back. Camilla is a woman shrouded in mystery. In-game, she summons floating blades to slice through any nearby foes, setting them up for explosive damage from her Pyro allies.

Roles: DPS, Support, Skill DMG

Camilla's kit revolves around summoning and manipulating Sommelier's Blades. When summoned, they orbit around Camilla, dealing damage to nearby enemies. They can also be launched and will return after a set distance, dealing damage to enemies along their path.

Skills:

  • Deadly Sip - Passive: Damage dealt by Sommelier's Blades inflicts a stacking debuff. Dealing Pyro damage to afflicted targets from sources other than Sommelier's Blades and Deadly Sip removes a stack of the debuff to deal an additional instance of Pyro damage.

  • Scarlet Banquet - Combat skill: Deal Pyro damage to nearby enemies, launch all Sommelier's Blades and gain a stacking buff. You can chain repeated casts of this skill, and all stacks of the buff expire when you stop chaining. For each stack of the buff, gain the following:

    • Skill Speed

    • Sommelier's Blades launch speed

    • Pause the duration of summoned Sommelier's Blades

    • Gain immunity to hitstun

  • Claret Waltz - Ultimate: Summon Sommelier's Blades for a set duration.

Passive upgrades:

  • ATK +50%

  • Skill Intensity +20%

  • Any character who removes stacks of the debuff from Deadly Sip gains a stacking buff, up to 20 stacks. When maximum stacks are reached, all stacks are removed to restore Sanity to that character.

  • When deployed as a Combat Partner, increase Morale for self and Pyro allies.

Introns:

  • Lv. 1: Damage dealt by Sommelier's Blades has a chance to inflict 1 additional stack of the debuff from Deadly Sip.

  • Lv. 2: While orbited by Sommelier's Blades, decrease Damage Taken and increase Damage Dealt.

  • Lv. 3: Scarlet Banquet Level +2; Deadly Sip Level +1.

  • Lv. 4: Increase the damage of the debuff from Deadly Sip and the launch speed of Sommelier's Blades.

  • Lv. 5: Claret Waltz Level +2; Deadly Sip Level +1.

  • Lv. 6: While orbited by Sommelier's Blades, gain PEN. Every time a stack of the debuff from Deadly Sip is removed, remove 1 additional stack.

She does not age. She does not die. No wound ever leaves a lasting mark on Lady Nifle. She is the ferrywoman who guides the souls of the departed on their destined return to the Misty Sea. In-game, she wields both the Lumino and Umbro elements, devastating hordes of foes in alternating flashes of light and dark.

Roles: DPS, Skill DMG

Skills:

  • Interwoven Cries - Passive: Casting Lunar Hunt has a chance to automatically spawn a Solar Eclipse, and vice versa, scaling with your ranged weapon's Trigger Probability. Lunar Hunts and Solar Eclipses spawned this way are not affected by Misty Sea Requiem.

  • Lunar Hunt - Combat skill: This cycles between Lunar Hunt and Solar Eclipse each time it's used:

    • Lunar Hunt: Deal AoE Umbro damage at a target location and reduce the movement speed of enemies hit.

    • Solar Eclipse: Deal AoE Lumino damage at a target location and reduce the ATK of enemies hit.

  • Misty Sea Requiem - Ultimate: Convert all Skill Range above 100% to Skill Intensity and enter an empowered state. This state ends after casting Lunar Hunt and/or Solar Eclipse 6 times. During this state:

    • Your ranged weapon gains a Trigger Probability boost

    • Lunar Hunt and Solar Eclipse cost no Sanity

    • Lunar Hunt pulls enemies hit towards its center

    • Solar Eclipse deals increased damage

Passive upgrades:

  • +50% ATK

  • +30% Skill Range

  • Lunar Hunt can trigger Umbro bonus effects, and Solar Eclipse can trigger Lumino bonus effects.

  • When deployed as a Combat Partner, increase ATK for self and Lumino allies.

Introns:

  • Lv. 1: Increase the chance of triggering the automatic spawns of Interwoven Cries.

  • Lv. 2: When Lunar Hunt deals damage, Solar Eclipse gains bonus damage against enemies hit, and vice versa.

  • Lv. 3: Lunar Hunt Level +2; Interwoven Cries Level +1.

  • Lv. 4: Increase your Healing Received and Sanity Recovery.

  • Lv. 5: Misty Sea Requiem Level +2; Interwoven Cries Level +1.

  • Lv. 6: Dealing damage using a ranged weapon has a chance to summon either Lunar Hunt or Solar Eclipse at the struck target's location.
