Weekly Build Discussion: Sovereign Ember (2026-08-17)

Each week, we will choose a topic and open a weeklong discussion for building & theorycrafting. On most weeks, the chosen topic will be a playable character, but sometimes we may also discuss other types of gear that offer a meaningful decision space. You will be able to find a list of all past weekly discussions in the Subreddit Wiki.

Greetings! We'll be doing something other than a character this week. This latest Immersive Theatre has introduced not a new character, but instead a new Calamity Weapon: the Sovereign Ember! This weapon is highly geared towards wielders of melee Consonance Weapons. At first it seems like Lisbell is the only character to tick all the boxes for this weapon, but with future characters and the upcoming ability to manipulate a character's weapon proficiency, who knows?

Weapon Type: Greatsword

Stats at Lv. 80:

  • Calamity Attack: 263.6

  • CRIT Chance: 22%

  • CRIT Damage: 220%

  • ATK Speed: 1

  • Trigger Probability: 22%

Potentials:

  • Smelting Level 0:

    • Sovereign - Ignite: Dealing Damage with this weapon grants 2 Calamity up to a cap of 100. When the cap is reached, consume all Calamity to gain a +50% Weapon DMG buff for a duration.
  • Smelting Level 1:

    • Sovereign - Spark (Left): Gain 80 Calamity at the start of battle. Dealing damage with a melee Consonance Weapon grants 2 Calamity.

    • Waning - Surge (Right): Triggering bonus effects grants 4 Calamity.

  • Smelting Level 2:

    • Sovereign - Might (Left): Skill Intensity +45%

    • Waning - Assault (Right): Character ATK +90%

  • Smelting Level 3:

    • Sovereign - Blaze (Left): While the Weapon DMG buff is active, Charged Attack DMG dealt with a melee Consonance Weapon is increased by 75%.

    • Waning - Scorch (Right): While the Weapon DMG buff is active, Normal Attack DMG dealt with a melee Consonance Weapon is increased by 75%.

  • Smelting Level 4:

    • Sovereign - Pursuit (Left): You deal +35% additional damage of your own element.

    • Waning - Pierce (Right): PEN +20%

  • Smelting Level 5:

    • Sovereign - Ember: While the Weapon DMG buff is active, your melee Consonance Weapon gains 25% of this weapon's CRIT Chance, CRIT Damage and Trigger Probability.

Potentials only take effect when your character's weapon proficiency matches this weapon's type.

Characters with Greatsword proficiency: Hellfire, Kezhou, Lisbell, Lynn, Phantasio, Zhiliu

Characters with melee Consonance Weapon: Berenica, Lisbell

  • Which potentials are better to unlock first? Left or right?

  • Which characters have this weapon as their best-in-slot?

How to get Ada secret clues?

Just started playing again and every time I try to get Ada secret clues it hits me with "unavailable at this time". When will they become available? I assume at a certain trail level but I can't find anything that specifies when I would be able to get them. Do I really need to wait till trial rank 60....? I really want to like this game but my god does it feel like a terrible new player intro.

DNA is the top in its category

One thing I noticed about DNA is that a lot of people still look at DNA from the perspective of a gacha. Many in gacha space think Duet Night Abyss has failed because it's not as popular as Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. But it's such a flawed way of looking at it since DNA isn't a gacha even if they originally intended it to be one.

DNA is a free to play RPG with multiplayer features. It's is not a MMORPG or a hybrid MMO like Where Winds Meet but it can be regarded as a MMO adjacent game. Why am I saying all this ? it's because if you look at all the MMORPG games, hybrid mmo and MMO adjacent games .. DNA actually looks quite good in terms of graphics, character models, mobile optimisation and multiplayer elements.

Basically when you see it from a MMO adjacent standpoint.. DNA will rank in the top 1% of games. All DNA needs to do is make the multiplayer aspects much more engaging and interesting.. further refine it's graphics and make the combat much better than it already is. Also ease up the grind a bit.

If they can manage to accomplish these 3-4 things — they will standout in their genre and with some promotions or a soft reboot ( like wuwa did with Rinascita ) can attract a decent sized chunk of players once more. If DNA were a gacha it would have to compete way harder just to stand out. But being a MMO adjacent game it doesn't need to. Combat is essential imo. I hope DNA devs doesn't ignore it.

In MMO adjacent category you have games like Path of Exile, Warframe, Destiny 2, Crystal of Atlan, Soulworker etc.

Be it Gacha games, MMO games and Hybrid MMO games all have realised combat is most important. A game with lackluster combat will only bore players in long run. That's why even Ananta is working hard to make their combat better.
