Okay, I know I'm going to sound like a crazy person, and while I don't believe this 100%, I do believe there's a serious possibility of Ahko appearing in Season 3. Less than zero, at least. Why do I think this? The merits of my theory are so:
The strange hearts on everybody's cheeks. Specifically small hearts, the same size as Ahko wears, on the cheek and nowhere else. This is a pretty strong hint since... if they didn't want to hint at Ahko, why not put the hearts inside their eyes, like every single volume cover?
Kishika. Kishika is a strange one considering she comes after Yaku and everyone expected her for Season 4, not 3. If Kishika appears in an earlier order, as the poster seems to suggest, why can't Ahko as well? She comes directly after Kishika, after all.
The controversy. Season 3 has the potential to be the most controversial by far. Naddy is another adult, Momiji is the groper, Chiyo is a young cousin, Yaku is 89 with a Kusuri type immortal body, and Kishika is an age regressor. Compare this to season 2 with no controversial additions or Season 1 with only two, Kusuri and Hahari, at a point where 100GF was less popular and could've flown under the radar.
Ahko, however, is an incredibly popular, incredibly wholesome, noncontroversial character. This is where the name of my theory comes in: I think that Birbury wants to deploy a tactical Ahko into the middle of Season 3 to distract everybody from the controversy everybody else might kick up. Let's be real, if Ahko's in Season 3, her clips will rule the airwaves.
This theory rests on the assumption of a longer, perhaps 14-16 episode season, which isn't the norm, or perhaps a 2-cour of 8 or 12 episodes apiece. A 12-13 episode 1-cour season 3 would completely destroy this, unless they somehow cram 13 girlfriends into that monstrosity.
I still think the most likely possibility is a 13 episode season ending with a Yaku cliffhanger reveal and Kishika before that as the key visual seems to suggest.
Tier List Based on How Lonely they Were (Before Joining the Family!)
I have a very faulty memory so bear with me here, I might have forgotten some stuff.
Naddy, Meme, Yamame, and Ahko stand out the most as people who could also make it to the lowest tier here but I excluded them for the following reasons:
-Naddy is an extrovert who, though cast out by her family, could and can still make social connections.
-Meme seems more skittish than lonely. She deliberately chose not to blend in, which is different from being involuntarily alone.
-Yamame has a loving and supportive family.
-Ahko's loneliness just felt different to me than the other three. I could be convinced otherwise on this.
By Contrast:
-Shizuka was abused by her mom, couldn't talk to people giving her a huge impediment, and is explicitly stated to have had no friends or anybody close to her.
-Tama is clearly estranged from her family and was on the side of the fucking road in a box saying 'adopt me'
-It is literally Usami's entire schtick. She's explicitly stated to be terrified of being alone, things being solitary in general, and lost all her friends due to her energy and clinginess.
