Declaration of Particulars
We have a family member looking to apply for proof of citizenship. Their parent was born in British Columbia and is still living. There is no way to access the parent's birth certificate in our country, and BC is strict about allowing children of living parents to request a copy of their birth certificate.
On the BC Vital Records page they note that if you're looking for a legal document confirming a person's birth, you can request something called a Declaration of Particulars. It's not listed as an acceptable document on the checklist and I haven't come across any other posts or comments about it in this sub.
Has anyone ever successfully applied (AOR / Certificate Received) using a Declaration of Particulars for proof of Canadian birth?
(I posted in the weekly application assistance thread, which may not have been the right place for this kind of question.)
