Nosy neighbor has me wanting to move.

She's just a lonely old woman so my wife tells me to be patient. But its the same little things every single day.

  1. The minute I try working in my yard she is right there. Telling me what I am doing wrong, telling me how she would do it, etc.
  2. If I go anywhere she is right there asking "where are you going". I have to make up stories because she will invite herself along. "Oh, you are going to Costco, let me get ready and I will come too"
  3. She is always in her backyard on the phone using the speaker. If I go outback in my yard all I hear is her gossip.
  4. She is a gossip. Mention anything do her and every neighbor knows your business within a day.

Going to recreate my portfolio site for what may be the 10th time in 20 years. But I don't care anymore so I am going old school.

Responsive design? No. Who cares? Sick of reducing the layout to what fits on a phone. Aways thought responsive dev was a bummer and hate Apple for killing Flash. There, I said it.

Analytics? No. Old school page counter right in your face. I don't need analytics to see the dozens of no-name crawlers that somehow stumble across my site.

Animation? Hell yeah. Piece of cake with my fixed width layout.

SEO? No. Who cares? Ain't nobody looking at my site anymore.

Why any of this? In the past, clients never even looked at my site, all work was word of mouth. I know because I asked them if they viewed my site and most said no. AI has already eaten into most of my income as a freelancer. And I do mean most. This is my farewell site and I am building what I want to build how I want to build. /rant

Random question for any of you that use the Faire platform: have you noticed an increase in spam email or phone calls since singing up?

This may not be an issue with Faire, but I was just curious. About a week or two after starting my Faire account I started getting a lot of spam email and calls. A lot of them are clearly garbage offering business loans, or if I want to sell my business, etc. Very odd to suddenly get these message on an email that is not live on my website and a phone number that is not listed at all.

Coconut Apricot wax has distinct smell I cannot mask (Using Ceda Serica and Candle Science Coconut Apricot). I have read this is a known characteristic of this wax, but looking at ways to get around it.

I love the look and pour of this wax, but I feel like I am competing with the wax scent. Anyone else using this wax? Do you notice this issue? If so, how do you work around it? I have went from 6,8,9, and 10% fragrance and I still can't get around it. Its not a bad smell as much as I feel its not what I expect or what other would expect in a scented candle. Its even worse with double wicking. My wife lit some candles the other morning and I jumped out of bed thinking something was one fire!

Paraffin or not? Getting less hot throw from coconut/apricot and soy. Does "all natural" matter to most consumers?

Frankly I feel like I am going out of my way to create an all-natural* product that just doesn't perform as well. I am selling scented candles and hot throw really should be the main factor. Am I chasing phantoms trying other waxes? I know I may lost customers with parrafin, but I think I would retain more buyers with a stronger hot throw. I bought many soy and coconut candles online and would never buy again because of poor scent performance (nevermind burn tests which most would actually fail).

*Most the coconut apricot blends I've tried have some proprietary amount of paraffin in the blend anyhow.

Wick testing - i am using a coconut apricot wax, but my question is mostly around wick sizing. I am using double wicks but the CD2 is too cool and the CD3 is too hot. Where do I go from here?

Different wick series entirely? Single wicks in my vessel (3.35'' inner-diameter) let me to double wicks. I tried single LX, CD, Premier, and CDN's and they consistently burned far too hot or drowned out in their own melt pool.
