Hi all! I was wondering if anyone could give some guidance on how to repair the damage to this clock. My toddler kneeled on it, and the epoxy cracked, exposing the wood underneath.

Would I be able to put some painters tape around the edge, and fill up with some clear epoxy? If so, what kind should I use?

This clock was made by my wife's grandpa when he got his contractor's licence. Unfortunately we're not able to ask him how he did it or how to repair.
