Picked up one my all time faves today. Love this album.

Got to see Mercury Rev, one of my all time faves the other night at the House of Blues in Cleveland. To my delight they had Deserter’s Songs on vinyl at the merch table and Grasshopper (lead guitar) was signing. I got him to sign it the same way he signed my poster when I first saw them at the Virgin Megastore in London in 1999, fresh off their Mercury Prize award for this same album. They are from Buffalo and I asked them if they had seen the film “Buffalo 66” which had just come out and was pretty much all I knew about Buffalo at the time. Grasshopper told me this time that he was born in Buffalo in ‘66. Anyway, amazing album and band who deserve much more fame than they’ve gotten.
