Hi all,

Later this week I’ll be looking at a BMW 1250 GS Adventure. It’s got low mileage (around 7000 kilometres/4350 miles) and every option I’d want it to have. Maintained at the dealership - all seems perfect.

One thing that stood out was that one of the pictures shows it parked outside the owner’s house with a motorcycle cover on it. Judging by the size of said house, I’m confident this BMW has always been parked outside.

People I know give contrasting opinions about this. One side says that, if inspected well and no things like rust and such can be found, that it should be fine. The other side says: parked outside is a no-go. Leave thisone and keep searching.

What are you guys thinking? Any other things to look out for?

Ik ga binnenkort bij een particulier langs voor een mooie BMW 1250GSA. Een Nederlandse motor (non-import), lage kilometerstand (circa 7000) en alles erop en eraan.

Nu is één ding wat nog een beetje in mijn hoofd speelt; de motor lijkt (aan de foto’s te zien) dat deze altijd buiten heeft gestaan met een motorhoes om. Sommigen zeggen: kijk gewoon goed of je schadeplekjes ziet, roestvorming (vanzelfsprekend om hier op te letten), maar ik hoor ook mensen zeggen dat je beter weg kan lopen bij dergelijke motoren.

Wat is jullie idee? Hebben jullie nog andere inzichten, tips of adviezen? Kan een motor die buiten heeft gestaan prima, of zeggen jullie ‘loop gauw verder’?
