Evening,

I've ordered a 13 Pro with 32 gigs of ram and the Ultra X7 358H. When the laptop was announced, man was I excited as I've been watching framework over the years and seeing how original 13 owners can migrate to Pro parts, I was finally sold on the company. The 13 Pro looks like a great bit of kit.

Despite this, I'm increasingly concerned about my eventual satisfaction with the laptop. I currently own a 16inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro with 32 gigs of ram. The MacBook Pro is absolutely spectacular and I'm increasingly worried I'm going to miss it when the framework comes.

Has anyone else switched from a MacBook Pro to a Framework laptop? What was your experience like? I appreciate that the screens on these aren't as good, speakers will definitely be worse, but I honestly love running Linux on my desktops. The repairability of the laptop is big for me, especially when I consider that in a few short years this Mac most likely won't see major OS releases anymore.

My options are to either get a 13 Pro now and release what cash is left in my Mac, or wait until the Mac is no longer supported / dead and then switch to Framework. I won't buy another Mac in the future as I'm not paying in excess of 3k for the mere privilege of not having useless ports and little memory.

Cheers
