Yall what's the deal with Spotify browser privilege ???

So I've noticed for a while that I can't turn off smart shuffle, go back to previous song or use progress bar in Spotify free app BUT I can use all these functions when I open the same account on browser on my laptop. In fact I can use all these functions even on my phone when the spotify account is opened simultaneously on laptop. Wth does Spotify tryna achieve ??
