Hi everyone, I’ve been searching for a book that I read in school but none of my searches have been successful.
It was in my classroom’s library, a small paperback(about the thickness of something like Of Mice and Men) with a black, grey, and red cover to my memory. One of the opening scenes included a woman at work who had suffered a huge nosebleed, but hadn’t noticed until she looked down to see her blood covered apron.
Most of the rest of the book revolved around a woman who is locked in a basement. The book describes the dark, dank mustiness of the basement as well as her disheveled dirty nightgown. I believe she makes a couple of escape attempts. I don’t remember how it ends.
