Yorkie relentlessly barks at my father without stopping unless he leaves the house.
when I say this dog barks a lot i mean it barks a LOT . it's currently 3 am and this dog has been barking since 5 pm without stopping and it's only barking at my dad. it's been doing this for a year and it's gotten to a point where my mother cries at night because of the excessive barking, and my dad damn near strangles the dog. it barks so loud, and it's not just an excitement thing- if you try to get near it, it WILL try to bite you. we don't know why it's so aggressive towards my dad because my dad has never done anything to it, he's hardly near it because of how much it barks. this dog was originally my grandmother's dog and she passed away last march, and we inherited it . my mom doesn't want to give it away because it is one of the last things she still has of her mother-- but it gets so frustrating because this dog is so loud and so aggressive NOTHING we have tried has gotten it to stop barking. we even tried a shock collar (this was not my decision, even I don't agree with it) and it genuinely desensitized itself to it and barks with it on. muzzle doesn't work, my dad giving treats to it fails because my dad can't even get near it, we don't know what to do. we are desperate. we are sleep deprived. we are frustrated. please help
