2025 RAV4 accident
Got a brand new 2025 Toyota rav4 xle premium in December. I fully paid it off last month.
Last night some kid rear ended me with his car by breaking a red light. He said he lost control.
He didn’t have an ID so I had to call the police.
Police came and we changed our information.
Since I’m at no fault here I opened up a claim and my insurance (geico) said he doesn’t have any insurance. The temporary insurance card he gave me was not active since he never paid for the insurance. Long story short he’s at fault and I have video evidence with the police.
Geico will use my insurance to cover the damages and will go after the young kid.
My question is the damage isn’t too bad however this is a brand new car with only 1500 miles and I want to fix this with OEM parts.
I also want to open a claim for diminished value for my RAV4. How much value should I ask for? I ran a carmax value for my car with and without accident and the difference was $3500.
