Hi guys, I (M26) wanted to come here to ask for advice and/or anecdotes on what I can do or what to look out for since this is my first time with a kidney stone. So starting Saturday at about 3pm I was having sharp pains on my side that I tried to push through til Monday (context: though it was constipation or something, but ive never had any of that till this weekend so I couldn't have known).

To make a long story short, those sharp pains on my left flank and radiated to my back just a tad bit finally died down within the past 16 hours and before that point, I had learned that I had a 6mm kidney stone in the left side.

So now I'm basically asking, aside from my prescription medication, cardiac activity and being mindful of my diet, how long do kidney stone typically stick around? How do I know it is passing or has passed through? And as a male, what kind of sensations should I be expected to feel and how should I actually upon it (ex: don't feel flank pain, but maybe a bit if tenderness on my lower left side, so where should I feel pain next, should I follow my urge to pee, etc)? If you guys can lend me some advice and knowledge that would be awesome.

Thank you all and have a great day.

Hi guys, so as the title stated above, I'm on Day 3 of what I believe to be constipation. It had started on Saturday with some aching on my left side that would flare up in pain and I've found myself unable to properly poop. It had been a rough night, but I managed to get some sleep in hopes that it would improve the following Sunday.

It didn't. I got some Colace and took that Sunday morning and a Duclolax suppository thaf night and pooped out three small pellets with some gas. Not much else though. I tried to walk around a bit aside from the fact.

Day 3 (today): Took another set of 3 Colace pills, and this time I added about 8oz of prune juice and use one of those Equate enema bottles. No luck honestly. And now the aching on my left is flaring up occasionally and I can feel my stomach rumbling but no noticeable bowel movement.

I've not had much to eat the past two days save for some Papaya and now Ive been having this 'very full' feeling.

Should I go to the hospital or stick to my routine (minus the enema)? I'm honestly afraid to go to the hospital because I dont wanna pay an arm and a leg for things that could be taken care of at home. I know this is stupid but given the American Healthcare system, I dont wanna take that risk. (This is also my first time having Medicaid, so idk what situations and hospitals it is applicable towards).
