First temple trip

I am headed to our local temple tomorrow morning for the first time. Our Sister missionaries are carpooling with me. I have six names to bring for baptism & confirmation. In the process of researching my family tree, I've learned some interesting tidbits, including that the family my Father was adopted by as a baby has deeeeeeep lds roots. I never knew this! My parents and I (as well as pretty much all of my other family) are estranged due to their addictions & such.

Is it weird to be a bit emotional about this experience? I've spent a good portion of the day reading through a bunch of "memories" on family search & crying on & off. I kind of feel silly saying that. I messaged a friend to tell her of the things I found and she said she 100% believes that our ancestors on the other side of the veil can minister to us while we're here on earth. So now that's what I've been thinking on. Maybe my decisions to be baptized & become a member of the church weren't so random after all. Thoughts?

The time has come

After a lot of soul searching, research, reading, & participating in church as much as I could.... I am getting baptized next week. At this very moment I'm having some mixed emotions & sort of feel like I am betraying my family legacy (raised catholic by a devout Grandmother) but I know this is the right step for me so I keep pushing forward. My husband's entire family are members of the church & my youngest son (I have two, but my pre teen is still a bit leary) was baptized this past February, so eventually we will be able to be sealed together which is exciting in the most humble way... If that makes sense.

Anyway, I just wanted to share. I don't have any of my own family left to share the news with but I felt like telling someone. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Investigating

Hi! I would love to hear from some converts (last 10 years or so). What was the biggest thing that helped you realize you were doing the right thing/following the right path?

What helped push back any doubts?

I have participated in lessons, continue to read & learn but I really want to hear from some converts. Our ward doesn't have many.
