Kenmore dishwasher no lights.

I have a Kenmore dishwasher model:66513483k901. The dishwasher has not been used in about a year. I decided to start using it again, but no lights are coming on and buttons don't work.
This is what I have tried so far:
I first checked the outlet that it is connected in to by unplugging it and plugging a lamp into it. The lamp turned on just fine, so there is power in the outlet.
I found a guide to check the thermal fuse. I ran a continuity check and the thermal fuse has continuity.
I unplugged the dish washer for ten seconds and opened the door. I re-plugged it with the door open and proceeded to close the door. Once the door closed there was a click somewhere and then a motor started humming. The washing light came on after a good ten to twenty seconds, but that was it. Pressing any button didn't do anything and then the motor turns off and the washing light turns off as well. After that it goes back to not working and no lights coming on no matter what I press.
What else should I test? What could it be?
