First off: I love the app. it gets more use than anything else on my phone. The audio quality is phenomenal, the ”Browse” by year tape shelves are a great touch.

that being said…

It really feels like they threw it out to the masses without consideration of a couple seemingly obvious things.

the search feature is bad. when I search ”Dave’s Picks”, for example, it should provide Dave’s Picks in numerical order, or any kind of discernible order. Instead, it lists them seemingly randomly.
A potential fix would be to add a subcategory for official releases (Dave’s, Dick’s, etc), or just figure out a better way to display search results.

*I am aware I can find all Dave’s in order of release under the “albums” category, but that’s a messy and impractical way of getting there. Search should be cleaner.

the curated playlists are intriguing, but… why can‘t I download them? 95% of my listening occurs in my car or out and about, not on WiFi, so I can’t stream these without burning data like crazy. The workaround here is to go to their playlist, select ”add to playlist”, create a new playlist, then download THAT playlist, which is dumb.

*edit* 3. this is picking nits, but… I’d love the ability to link tracks for playlist purposes. If there’s a particularly sick Let It Grow that leads into a great Drums (looking at you, 6/17/76), I would like the ability to link them so they always play in order in a playlist.

there are other things I would like to see, but not necessarily anything I would list as a “complaint”.

For example, I would love to browse by song and sort by popularity. I‘ve thought a couple times “I wonder what the most streamed (insert song name here) version is?”

Now that we have had it long enough to consider functionality, what do you all think would improve your experience on the app?

Is this too much for a PDR pro?
