How do people do early aggression on Aliens??

I don´t get how people go aggressive on aliens early.

I normally am more the type to "submarine" my way to the point where I can fight them head on. However I wanted to try out another playstile and go aggressive earlier, especially since it seams to be the consensus, that this is what you need on higher difficulties (I play on normal).

HOW???

=> I am 6 years into the game now (start 2026, humanity first in case it matters)

While missiles can kill the aliens, that doesn´t matter really as I find the aliens often will have a single small ship run away from the battle and I obviously can´t catch them. So I legitimately can´t win battles.

Also the Aliens are never in orbit as single ships, but always at least in 4s or so so everytime I need e legitimate little fleet of 8 ships or so minumum which obviously all die.

Am I overlooking something or is it more about starting to attrition the aliens (which obviously encours their wrath too since passive loss of hate is barely a thing in my experience)

About shaped charges: not always working?

After experimenting a fair bit with missiles, I noticed something:

Shaped charges seam to only trigger in a certain percentage of cases?

Thats relevant in two cases:

When they get shot down by pd, they SOMETIMES (roughly 1/3 to 1/2 I'd say) unleash their payload anyway, potentiall leading to a kill or at least damage to the ship that shot them down.

Also, when they actually connect, because they are not shot down at all, it seams like almost always they just act as regular missiles and do not cause the long, narrow cone type of aoe they are supposed to, which could help damage several ships at once, potentially.

Has someone else noticed this?

About missiles - how to make them work??

I never got missiles to work. Ever. In the early game against human factions they are ok - if nothing else, by virtue of beeing your only choice.

But as soon as just simple laser pd comes around, I find you need so many missiles to overwhelm it, that even railguns and simple lasers are more reliable.

Some say they have a nieche early vs aliens- but I find alien PD is so crazy effective that you need such overwhelming force, you could do it with kinetics, lasers and rays too.

And in fleet engagements they are just utterly impractical and there is so much pd you might as well not try.

Is it just me? Am I seriously forgetting something? (No its not magazines I know about them)

What is the best ship/weapon combination nowadays for fleet-battles?

As detailed in another post, returning to Terra Invicta after a year or so. Whats the best weapon setup when fitghting full fleet battles?

In the past I focussed on ships with good nose-slots, so battlecruisers and lancers primarily with monitors screen.

For weapons I used either:

Laser Weapons in the hull and heavy siege coilers in the nose

Or

Coilguns in the hull and beam Weapons in the nose

Or

Full laser

In order of how happy I was with the results.

Whats good nowadays? :)

Returning TerraInvicta lover - got my ass handed. Has the game changed that much?

Hey you beautiful people.

I used to play Terra Invicta quite a bit. Than took a break for about a year and now I am back. And I got my ass handed pretty badly. I would like some feedback if I was unlucky, or made mistakes that might have worked on older versions etc.

I played the Acedemy (yes I know they are a little bit tricky, but I played them before), 2022 scenario. Started with the EU. I noticed it was significantly harder than on previous versions to unify the EU, the Servants pushed back A LOT. EDIT: I played full solar system, normal difficulty.

I secured quite a decent chunk of Mars and a significant presence on the asteroids. But I felt like gaining a good ressource deposit was signficicantly more difficult than it used to be?

On Earth, I was 2035, I owned the EU (roughly its actual size), Russia, Turkije

The ALien nation was established in the US (that part obviously is a bit unlucky, but nothing outrageous imO)

Alien hate wasn´t too bad, but basically what happened was that the Alien Administration ground down my ground forces (Military Score around 5 ish, 16 armies between my countries) and the servants obliterated my entire space presence, with zero minerals and no way forward I abbandoned the run.

Also something I notices was getting the burner drive and than NOTHING for a long while. Like, no drives at all.

So jeah, some pointers would be nice. Because I love TI but abbandoning runs that take weeks always sucks... :)
