I'll be the first to admit, I am not a mechanic and am pretty new to working on my bike, but I'm trying to become more savvy. So I hope I am descriptive enough, I went to start my Scrambler a few days ago and it started but quickly sputtered out, and now I just get a single click.
The battery is a few years old, so I went ahead and replaced it since the voltage was low and the new one reads 12.65V. But I still can't get it to start, dash lights come on and so does the headlight. I tried in neutral and in first gear with the kickstand up and the result is the same just the single click, before trying to start it I am able to hear the hum (If anyone can educate me on what is doing that?)
I am thinking it might be the solenoid and when I tested that it was getting around 12.2V, which doesn't seem great compared to what the battery was giving me. I am thinking of ordering a new one, but I was wondering if anyone here has been in my situation and knows what's wrong or at the least is more knowledgeable than me has any suggestions on other things to check first.
