Mumbai Indians and their art of using Indian Spinners:

Mumbai Indians and their art of using Indian Spinners:

The Victorious MI or Rohit's Era did not have a Sunil Narine/ Rashid Khan. Rohit sir wisely played the game with spinners, some directly came from the domestic circuit.

We know the game has evolved, so are the decisions taken, but still lack of Indian Spinners will affect our lineup someday.

Mumbai always had a habit of utilising spinners within the pp, which is always a braver call with the field less spread out, finger spinners become effective. For fans saying we have 2 OS spinners, remember - No two OS spinners (directly into the 11) won a title, and it is always advantageous to have a local spinner --

  1. Understands the pitch condition and can be trained and groomed even during Non-IPL time.

  2. Raw and adaptable - Easily available

A Strategic Captain like Rohit can study the line and length. Ex- Used Harbhajan's flat lines and tightened the line with Cont. Drifts by bowling closer to the wicket, and used Ojha to handle Roughness on the surface with his bowling action was a pure masterclass. He did not mixup their overs at all. No present thinks this wisely

In this mega auction, MI must target two good Indian Spinners (finger spinners) and slot them into the 11 and Rohit must personally train them - I can't find a better reader of spin than Rohit in the team.

Must give Ankolekhar and Mayank Rawat a few overs this time, who knows if they click they can be used for future.

Ayush Varthak: Our Maharastra's upcoming young Fast Bowling AR.

He has the potential to become an international player very soon. 6+ Feet, Hard hitting middle order batter and an unorthodox Right arm fast medium pacer with good swing.

Has attended 3 trials this season: RR, Kkr and CSK while CSK is loving him and will try to acquire him this season.

We MI are the only team still looking for Punjab players when we have our own talents

We Must buy Foreign Fast bowlers has we used to:

Just hear this out. Our bowling was nearly washed this season and we must strengthen our fast bowling next season.

With the Mega Auction coming, the best option is to trade out Hardik Pandya with 2 INDIAN CAPPED - only CSK can offer Khaleel and Dube with that, and we don't want the service of Green as we already have Bosch. With Dube and Khaleel in, Sherfane and Boult would be released (MI released Boult in SA20).

With two slots opening, we must go all out for two foreign bowlers - IMO (Sonny Baker/ Tongue and C Overton), Baker and Overton can bowl 145+ - Baker will fetch 7+ crs this time). Though two OS spinners isn't worthy in our pitch - both Allah and Santa have performed well.

My 11:

Rohit, Ryan, Tilak, Surya, Dube, Jacks, naman Dhir, Bosch, Santner, S.Baker, Khaleel, Bumrah.

4 Solid Pacers, Two spinners in Santa and Jacks, Part timers in Naman and Dube.

Gus Atkinson for Trent Boult - Back up for Corbin Bosch

Gus Atkinson has been a standout performer this whole year and why not we make a gamble and get him.

He is a very very clever bowler, has a handful of variations and can be an asset as he can bat pretty well too (Bowling AR).

Bumrah, Ashwani Kumar/Deepak chahar, Bosch and with Atkinson as a backup gives us a decent bowling attack

Indian Domestic Picks for MI2027:

Shams Mulani: Failed to give him enough opportunities in 2024. A 3 dimensional player, Elite AR in the domestic circuit right now. Just like Krunal, he isn't only a economical bowler but also picks wickets in the middle of both left and right handers. Proper batter and can be used as a floater as well. He would be my first pick considering his domestic experience. (We can't go with two OS spinners, wt#)

Yuvraj Chaudary: Not Many know about Yuvraj. He is a very explosive Left handed opening batte from kerala just like P.Arya of pbks. He can swing the bat very hard and strike 200+ from the very first ball and has a very less margin of failure rate. Can bowl left arm orthodox and is a 3 overs bowler on his day (picks early wickets). Can't find another explosive opening AR in auction pool and LSG released him without giving him opportunity.

Sairaj Patil: Proven Domestic player for last 2-3 years. A right arm medium bowler who can bowl 135 and bat explosively at 5,6,7. Brilliant swinger of the ball and can pick wickets in pp and middle. Best AR performer of this year's Mumbai t20 (4th highest wicket taker, 3rd highest run scorer with high strike rate at wankhade).

vidyadhar patel: Known talent from Karnataka. Don't judge him with him domestic t20 stats. Very good swing and All phase bowler who can bowl at 140. Above all, He is underrated lower order batter with crazy bat swing - a full bat swing like Abishek Sharma. Can easily bat at 7 if groomed well and has good variations with the all.

tushar raheja: Needs no Introduction. Explosive, left handed wicket keeper and opener from Tamil Nadu who impressed everyone with his high striking batting skills. Believe me, He is one of the best keepers behind the stumps. We can go for him too.

All Round Brilliance at T20-Mumbai: Sairaj Patil

Sairaj has been phenomenal in the Mumbai T20 at our Wankhede for few years.

A Tall Fast bowling All rounder - power hitter who can bat at 5. Bowls 135kmph.

Even last year, he single handedly won matches with his batting and economical bowling stuff.

Can give you 4 overs on his day and is a proper batter in a middle striking at 160 with avg of 58 this season - 7 wickets with a bowling economy of 7.

Can be a idle replacement for Hardik though he is 28.

People can't tolerate Tilak as VC:

Why are fans of SRH and even some in our Sub not happy with Tilak becoming VC. I mean, he is our best batter if you see for the span of the last 2 years, who performed in almost every match.

He is built to play under pressure and deserves the VC role. While Ishan isn't a regular and has just come in this WC - Taking no credits from him and he is our boy too.

While there is a logic for the argument of Ishan being the VC, a franchise directly wants Rajat Patidar to replace tilak and become captain/ Vice captain. Patidar is in form of his life - deserves a call up but not in the place of Tilak.

Similarly, not with someone becoming captian immediately after joining the squad. Surya deserves a farewell series and then Iyer can become Captain.

Rewinding Sundar's 2017 TNPL:Amazed like how Sundar carried GT's middle order this season with limited opportunity... But just realised He was TNPL 2017's highest run scorer and second highest wicket taker just behind SAI. He must play at the top 5 for GT even though he is naturally a stroke maker

Don't even dare to leave these two guys for the next 5 years;

These two, if utilised properly, can become our Narine and Russell. With Ryan Rickleton showing promises with his bat, I don't mind releasing him and buying him back in mega auction if possible.

I have seen comments of people saying Ryan should be a retention, which is completely wrong. 2028 auction retention should be: Tilak, Bumrah, Naman, Will Jacks and Bosch ..

We can't afford to loose 3D players again if Hardik Pandya is gone. If bosch performs exceptionally well next season, Bosch and Jacks would go for 13+Cr as there is a lot of demand for such AR, while we can get Ryan at 9-10cr, else can get some good smash buckling openers.

They are at least some replacements for Ryan - Jamie Smith is a good name, Connor Esterhuizen, J Clarke, while there are no genuine AR in the league if we fail to keep Jacks/ Bosch. I personally feel Mumbai must identify a solid indian Wk batter to open next year and not depend upon foreign wks. It's a luxury to have two Wks in lineup as it won't allow much changes in the 11 if primary wk is injured...

Who should be our next captain to carry Rohit's legacy:

I personally feel Shardul Thakur to lead from the front and who on earth will choose Tilak/ Bumrah Over Shardul or Deepak chahar.

Deepak Chahar is another brilliant option. Shardul will be my captain, Deepak chahar will be my vice captain so that both of them should play all the 14 matches next season. They will definitely bring Glory if they play full season.

In spin friendly wickets, we must bench bumrah - Deepak, bosch, Shardul being our three seam bowlers, we can't offer to bench them for a bowler like Bumrah

Let's hope Shardul brings us the 6th title.

Hardik Pandya Trade buzz: Why people hate him??

I posted a post to trade him for Punjab players and people did not get me right.... So was my post: It was unclear...

Firstly, Hardik Pandya is a big name. The best white ball AR in the world right now. He would be my top 4 picks of any playing 11 and is easily the MVP of any team.

But there is no relationship between his calibre and team management. As a player, he is literally too good.

Hardik Pandya lacks a sense of team management. He himself doesn't fit easily into teams. Clearly he is having some problems with his attitude.

Rohit Sharma is the face of MI. He built this entire franchise with great leadership skills and tactical decisions in the longer term. If you remove Rohit from MI, mumbai will loose at least 30-40% of their fanbase and he holds a seniority position in the team.

If Hardik enters the team as a captain, he must understand that Rohit is his senior both in MI and ICT itself. Rohit is one of the best captains India has ever produced, Hardik must have a lot of respect considering Rohit's achievements. Surya and Bumrah are two other big names in ICT and Hardik must tolerate and consider their inputs. It's easy to Lead a bunch of Rookies rather than these legends in the team.

2013 MI team had: Ricky ponting, Sachin Tendulkar, malinga, Harbajan Singh...but a young captain made the team victorious by leading them...

If Hardik can stay in the team as a player, he would be the best pick to have....if he shows his ego and can't tolerate other ICT regulars and Rohit, he can leave, has the franchise bigger than a player.

Foreign Retention for MI2027:

Foreign Retention with limited Slots of 8 has always been crucial throughout IPL.

Sometimes it's not only about performance, it's all about how it would work in the long run of the game.

Our team has got and assembled a decent foreign combination for this IPL and now it's about retaining few for the next year/Cycle.

Retention:

  1. Ryan Rickleton: Excellent performance, two gear player, excellent behind the stumps and he would be the first retention.

  2. Allah Ghazanfer: He was really decent - Good with the ball this season. Has shown promises of a great bowler he can be in the future like Rashid Khan. Will have him.

  3. Will Jacks: Retention for his solid talent. A 3D player and a young prospect to have. Can bat anywhere now and has shown his calibre this season with the bat. He is our future star fire sure.

  4. Corbin Bosch: Retained, with Hardik mostly likely will leave the franchise, bosch will be a big name in next 2-3 years.

  5. Mitchell Santner: I don't think if he would be with us for the next cycle but it's no brainer to retain him as he ticks several boxes - Can bowl 4 economical overs with a wicket or two - brilliant fielder - and has also upgraded his finishing skills.

  6. Rutherford: Don't know if we want him next cycle, but a decent finisher and can have him next season.

Possible Releases: QDK, Boult, Maharaj.

Targets for next Auction:

  1. Connor Esterhuizen (wk): Bright talent, one of the best batters in the domestic circuit of SA. Unique and authentic Technique - can play anywhere in the top 5, Excellent keeper behind the stumps..pray for GT to release him as he is our boy and you can't see a player like him right now. I rate him very highly.

  2. Seam Bowler: I will take M.Forde from WI - similar skill set like Bosch, Naveen ul haq, Springer, C Overton..

It's not a strong TOP3 this year, it's TOP4

Washington Sundar is the difference between GT25 and GT24..

It was worth backing him instead of Rutherford...

Expecting GT to utilise his bowling amidst it's terrific fast bowling attack...
