In October of 2025 I started having (what I thought at the time) reoccurring UTIs. I kept seeing my primary doctor as I didn’t know ureaplasma was even a thing at this time. I went through 4 rounds of Macrobid. The 4th time he recommended seeing a urologist, which at the time I decided not to and made and appointment with my gynocologist instead (Feb 2026). She tested for Ureaplasma and mycoplasma. The test came back positive for Ureaplasma, and we treated with doxycycline for 10 days. I thought it fixed me truly, everything was better up until last week, the symptoms started back. My gynocologist had me do a urine sample last Wednesday. Everything came back normal so we made an appointment for this week. It was with a different doctor because my normal one could not fit me in so soon. They did another urine sample which came back high in protein and leukocytes. She wanted to treat for UTI, and I just really didn’t feel like that’s what it was. She looked over my records from the testing and treatment my usual doctor had did. She said she did not feel like it was Ureaplasma but that it was hard to diagnose and hard to treat. And that most people carried it naturally and would test positive for it anyways? And stated it may be Cystitis and now has me on Ciprofloxacin for 10 days and stated if that didn’t fix the issues to make another appointment. I’ve been at this for 5/6 months now and I’m just at a loss and looking for guidance I guess? I’m not having sex. Should I see the urologist? Should I find a different gynocologist? Or should I see if these antibiotics fix it?
