Gwen Kit "Rework" Concept for a fresh playstyle
Hello there, this may be random but I somehow got bored and asked AI to generate a kit rework of Gwen since I personally think that Gwen doesn't feel fun to play repetitively, like there are little to no variance on playstyle... but that's entirely my opinion and it's different for everybody so haha..
I felt like the one it made is quite interesting and kind of fresh because it introduces a new mechanic for it to feel like you need to be a bit more decisive/strategic when to take fights or not, I tried changing a few because some are overtuned (some might still be but its just a concept so oh well).
Here's the concept:
Gwen, The Hallowed Seamstress
"Every cut tells a story. Let’s make it a happy one!"
Gwen has received a full update focused on fluidity, readability, and healthy skirmishing patterns. Her joyful seamstress identity, % health damage, healing from cuts, and signature hallowed mist defense are preserved and enhanced.
Key Notes :
Hallowed Thread as the new unifying resource.
Smoother Q rhythm + sewn utility.
Less binary W with active Thread weaving.
Trail synergy on E.
Better early wave clear while keeping her a mid/late-game scaling champion.
!! New Resource: Hallowed Thread !!
Gwen generates Hallowed Thread (0–100) by damaging enemy champions with basic attacks and abilities (stronger generation from Q center hits and empowered autos).
Thread decays at 5 per second outside of combat.
UI displayed beneath her mana bar.
Thread empowers W and R.
( This I feel makes her more of the seamstress fantasy she is)
PASSIVE – A Thousand Cuts (Updated)
Gwen’s attacks and abilities apply Cuts (stacks up to 4).
Each stack deals 1% (+ 0.6% per 100 AP) of the target’s maximum health as bonus magic damage over 3 seconds.
Gwen heals for 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 / 18% of the post-mitigation damage dealt by Cuts to champions (reduced effectiveness vs minions/monsters).
New – Minion Execution: Minions below ~10–25% max HP are automatically executed after sufficient Cuts.
Attacks and abilities on champions generate 8-20 Hallowed Thread (based on ability).
Q – Snip Snip! (Updated)
Gwen performs between 2–6 snips in a cone over ~2 seconds (based on Snippy stacks consumed).
Cast time reduced and responsiveness improved for fluid combos.
Each snip deals magic damage and applies Cuts. Center snip deals bonus true damage equal to 50% of the magic damage.
New – Sewn Threads: Landing max-stack center snips briefly stitches nearby enemy champions with Hallowed Thread — slowing them by 25% and revealing them for 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 / 2.5 seconds.
Increased base damage against minions for smoother wave clear.
Cooldown: 5 / 4.5 / 4 / 3.5 / 3 seconds.
W – Hallowed Mist (Major Rework)
Gwen surrounds herself with Hallowed Mist for 4 seconds.
While inside: Gains 20/25/30/35/40 (+ 8% AP) Armor and Magic Resist, becomes ghosted, takes 25% reduced damage from enemies outside the mist, and her attacks and healing are empowered (+20% Cut damage and +15% healing).
Removed: Full untargetability against enemies outside the mist.
New – Recast: Reposition the mist center a short distance. Repeated recasts slightly shrink the mist and do not refresh duration.
New – Thread Weaving (Max Thread): At 100 Thread, recast becomes empowered — the mist aggressively follows Gwen and she gains a short weaving dash (300 units) inside the mist. Cooldown of empowered recast: 3 seconds.
Projectiles entering from outside are weakened.
Cooldown: 22 / 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 seconds
Duration: 4 seconds (all ranks)
!! Goal: Defensive power remains strong but interactive. Dive her inside the mist or bait her out.
E – Skip ’n Slash (Updated)
Gwen dashes to a target location (slightly increased range) and gains 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65% bonus attack speed, 75 attack range, and 8 / 11 / 14 / 17 / 20 (+20% AP) on-hit magic damage for 4 seconds.
New – Hallowed Thread Trail: Leaves a trail for 5 seconds. Attacking near or crossing the trail extends E duration by 1 second or refunds 20% of the cooldown.
First basic attack after dashing applies 2 bonus Cuts and briefly slows the target.
QoL: Can now be cast during Q.
Cooldown: 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 seconds.
R – Needlework (Updated)
Gwen hurls needles up to 3 times (1 → 3 → 5).
Each needle deals 40 / 70 / 100 (+25% AP) magic damage, slows by 40% for 1 second, and applies 1 stack of Cuts.
New – Threaded Impact (Max Thread): Casting with 100 Thread empowers needles to sew unstable stitch zones on impact. Enemies in these zones take 30% amplified Passive damage and Gwen’s healing from Cuts is increased by 30% for 3 seconds.
New – Final Stitch: The third cast deals additional 0.8 / 1.2 / 1.6% of the target's missing health as magic damage per needle (+0.4% per 100 AP).
Cooldown: 120 / 100 / 80 seconds.
Visual & Audio Upgrades
Complete VFX pass with glowing threads, flowing fabric mist, and visible stitch trails.
New voice lines for Thread synergies (“All stitched up!” / “No loose ends!”).
Updated animations across the board.
Balance Tuning
Base health & armor slightly increased for healthier top lane early game.
Stronger AP ratios to support bruiser builds (Nashor’s → Riftmaker core).
Cuts monster damage appropriately capped.
Tune mana cost to prevent early game spamming.
What do you think of these? I certainly feel like its very interesting with these changes but idk if the damage numbers or what are underpowered or overpowered in terms of balancing. This is entirely conceptual and I dont intend to provoke or fight anyone so its just what are your opinions here? :D
