Faulty dtcm ruined by tires?
Hello, my aunt owns a 2021 jeep grand Cherokee limited 4x4. The other day she was telling me she saw a service 4wheel drive message on the dashboard. When I looked at it when she took it to the dealer service center and saw that it was stuck on 4wheel drive low but no service error. The mechanic called us back today and is claiming that the wheels were dry rotted and that it cause the dtcm malfunction. They are now quoting me 1300 to replace the dtcm and 1500 to replace all the wheels. I’m not super familiar with jeep repairs since I own a Nissan. Is it possible for the tires to cause the dtcm to fail? Or are they trying to just charge for extra stuff on top of the faulty module. The car has around 25k miles. Thanks in advance!
