Hi all - I just created a private subreddit for Milwaukee movie fans: r/mkemoviepotluck. It's not a typical movie/film club where we watch then discuss a movie, although that can certainly be part of it.
The idea is simple: it’s a "movie potluck." We organize meetups around the Milwaukee area to hang out, bring physical copies of movies to share (hence the potluck), and have great conversations over good snacks/drinks.
I had a great time attending the Milwaukee Film Fest this year (my first!) but was missing the space for engagement and conversation after screenings. Going to the movies is one of my favorite activities, but normal meetups to go watch a movie adds 2-3 hours of additional time commitment so I wanted to focus on sharing movies we own and making it more of a casual hangout, with the bonus that you could borrow movies that aren't in your library.
Anyway, check out the brand new subreddit (keeping it private since we'll be talking about in-person meetups but I'm open to changing that if there's no reason to keep it private).
