Duel 6-volt battery hookup help required
Hey everyone,
This is going to be my first full season with a travel trailer and I already made a classic rookie mistake. I (stupidly) forgot to snap a photo of my battery hookups before pulling them for the winter. Now I’m staring at a pile of cables and could really use a hand.
I have two 6V batteries that I’m trying to wire in series for a 12V system.
The setup so far:
- I’ve got the thick red jumper cable connecting the Positive of Battery A to the Negative of Battery B.
- Aside from that jumper, I have 5 additional wires from the trailer to deal with.
- Currently, I have three red/orange wires on Battery A’s Positive terminal.
- I have two black wires split up. One on Battery A’s Negative and one on Battery B’s Negative.
- The trailer is solar ready if that's helpful to you all.
I’m keeping the breakers off for now because I have a feeling I’m "way out to lunch" here, and the owner's manual is basically Greek to me.
Does this sound right, or am I about to let the smoke out of my electrical system? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
