Scamp repair twin cities
Hi folks! Anyone have a lead on Scamp repair near the Twin cities, MN? We dewinterized our Scamp yesterday and found a huge waterline leak near our heater, not something we feel comfortable taking on ourselves. Thank you!

I have been searching for a camper to fit my needs for nearly a year at this point and I am almost ready to just make a custom one for myself.
I need advise for a camper to get. So I travel across Texas doing trade shows as a vendor. I already drive my ram 1500 with a 5.7L Hemi V8 because I use the bed to bring my products to shows. I have been staying at hotels on weekends spending up to $300 a weekend two to three times a month. My typical show routine is to leave Friday for the show and be back home on Sunday night. Most of my shows allow for parking for even up to full size RV's. But I am a 1 man operation where maybe twice a year my wife might join me. As someone who used to go RV camping with my grandparents as a teen and is used to RV parks (and hasnt done it in 20 years). When parked in a parking lot like this, there are no electrical hookups or water/sewage. I am also a VERY LARGE man. At 6'5'' 280 lbs (think "The Mountain" from Game of Thrones)
Large toilet space. Every camper I've ever stepped on my butt just doesnt fit in the space for the toilet.
AC and heating unit that can be run all night. (I am going to be in Texas in summer and winter).
Some sort of generator to keep batteries and electronics running. (Even if this is something that I have to buy extra and add to the bed of my truck as long as its a setup that works)
USB charging for my phone.
Queen bed.
Enough storage for a few changes of clothing.
Food storage. Enough space to store two days worth of prepared food and drinks. None of it is stuff thats going to be cooked its all been prepped ahead of time. I dont need a microwave or range.
TV that I can plug a playstation into to play offline games or DVD's.
Shorter and lighter in weight is more preferable.
Larger shower space thats tall enough for me. If I have to compromise on this in my grandparents RV as a teen I used to just line the bathroom floor with towels because the door wouldnt close with me in the shower and I had to do my best.
Id prefer no pullouts as space is limited in parking lots. (plus that just adds another failure point with maintenance)
My girlfriend and I have had a couple of different campers over the years that we have been together, however we have never drank out of the tap from the camper. We typically carry around a 5 gallon jug which gets a little annoying storing it while we’re trying to use the camper sometimes (smaller camper).
My house has a pretty bad ass water filtration system, so I was wondering if we would be fine to fill my freshwater tank from that and then just use a faucet filter in the camper? That way we can just drink from the tap and not need to bring extra water jugs.
*I do sanitize the water tank on the camper every spring
I’m not sure if this is a stupid question but from the googling I did it seems like people just install the same type of water filtration I have in my house under their RV sink but I don’t have any room for that really. My thinking is that the faucet filter will just catch any particles and stuff that might be left over in the water tank in the camper.
Thanks in advance 🙏🙏
I took my new to me trailer to rv repair shop and they had it for about 10-11 days. They called me to tell me it was ready today. When I got there to hook up, the batteries were dead. Jack wouldn’t operate. They had to jump them to get them to operate the jack. I figured it was like a car and they’d be gtg, went to disconnect at the storage facility and the jack wouldn’t operate again. I had to get my daughter to drive over to jump them again. I had the camper a few weeks before i dropped it off and had no issues. When I dropped it off the owner operated my jack, so they were fine beforehand. Is this an error by the shop? Or is it on me? Thanks!
Hello! I currently have a 2023 Hideout which has been a “fun” learning experience but definitely not something I’d want to full time in. I’m looking to upgrade as I plan to go full time RVing while I’m in grad school in the PNW. It would be ~3 years (we may just do one year FT and then move into a house for the more time intensive final 2 years). I have kids who would be 8 and 12 at the time we’d depart, and two 120+ lb dogs. The kids and dogs are used to RV camping for up to 3 weeks at a time but our floor plan is certainly not ideal for long term.
I’m looking for reliability first and foremost, as ours is essentially an expensive trash heap and there has been one major issue after another. We didn’t have a working fridge for the first 2 years.
We currently have a bunkhouse model and love having the private space for each kid, so that would definitely be a requirement for the next one as well.
We need a more comfortable “living room” area with decent chairs for school work and more lounging space for lots of long rainy days, so we’d likely need slides. Loathe the dinette.
We do boondock for a week or so at a time and prefer that over resort style camping. Of course we’ll do some time with hookups especially during hot or cold weather but don’t want to be limited to requiring hookups every night.
Budget isn’t a major concern; I’ll be purchasing a used one when I am ready (luckily I’m in a great area for RV purchasing as people frequently move or PCS out of state and don’t want to haul it with them) and I prioritize my comfort at this stage in my life.
Finally got it set up at the lake and so far I'm liking it. Looking forward to summer.
Hi everyone. I have a Fleetwood 24 RKS that I would really like to store in my heated shop to keep it out of the wet coast winters. Unfortunately I'm about 18 inches short even with the spare off and the trailer touching the back wall. I am planning on cutting the bottom panel of the door and was wondering if anyone has gone this route before? Can't find any info of people attempting it online.
Thanks !
List price was $9998. Got this for $11k OTD, inspection, prep, doc fee was included, had to pay taxes and added on gap insurance. Can't wait to go on many adventures.
So this isn’t a travel trailer but my 18x6 food trailer has stability lifts in the back but today I noticed while walking inside the trailer it felt bouncy, I checked under the trailer and it looks like my “outriggers/stability lifts” have buckled. How do I fix this and how do I stop this from happening again. Thanks!
Hello, I’m making sure my travel trailer tires are aired up adequately for the camping season. On the body of my trailer, it recommends 60 PSI. The wall of the tires say maximum 50 PSI. I checked the pressure yesterday and it was 30 PSI on both tires. I aired them up to 45 PSI. Is this adequate or should I shoot for a different number?
For reference, it’s a small Riverside Retro 511 single axle that only ways about 1700 lbs. it’s similar to the photo included with these all terrain tires.
Thanks in advance!
My first real trip in our TT. Already a little tired because I had just finished a quick slide floor repair (also got the call my mom had passed that morning which I knew was coming but still..). Hook up the trailer cable to the trailer and hear a “bzzzt” and a ticking sound (later learned something must have gotten fried in the converter since the battery wasn’t providing juice to the trailer, but AC power did.). Wife was only a few weeks out of kneed surgery, had a ferry reservation to make, and it’s our first trip. Needless to say, a few things on my mind!
Check the trailer is all good and we’re on our way. A weigh station is on the way so I check my weights…a little over in the rear axle, damnit! Get to the ferry line and get out to readjust the WDH. Before I do, I think “damnit…where are the trailer keys??” Not in my pocket, not in the truck. I go around the trailer…and they’re still in the door, sticking about halfway out 😱
Holy cow… easily would have been my final nail to this trailer thing before the trip had even started!!
Anyone else have some silly and harmless oopsies/near misses?
I recently bought a 2025 Springdale 2010BH (23’ long and 3815lbs before battery/crap/water).
I have been towing it with a 2008 Nissan Titan 2wd. Since I live in the land of hills and it snows I also have an awd Honda element. I don’t really want to drive a full size truck everyday BUT would kinda like to consolidate my vehicles.
I’ve been looking around and the 2026 Frontier has a 6880lb towing capacity and the same HP as my old Titan.
What are the chances that a frontier would tow this camper? I know I’ll do it but will it kill it? Will I die?
If it matters we rarely go anywhere further than 2hrs away.
Has anybody installed a vent fan on a Coleman 17b and if so was it easy to run the power any tips would be appreciated.
Just bought a 23 foot travel trailer—dry weight ~4,800; GVWR 5,650. First larger towable…before was a (large-ish) pop up.
My tow vehicle is a 2020 GMC Yukon with max trailer package rated to tow more than 8,000 and with a payload capacity of ~1,600. Yukon has 18 inch wheels with essentially brand new Michelin Defender tires and rear air suspension. Hoping to make tow experience as good as possible, I bought a blue ox SwayPro WDH that RV dealer installed for me.
The first drive off the lot, with trailer at ~5,200 pounds (trailer plus full fresh water and propane tanks; no cargo) and Yukon with only 2 passengers, was HARROWING. Felt like every vehicle that passed me on the freeway, which was most considering I was under 60 MPH at all times, pushed my setup to the side. And I felt like I was swaying side to side way more than expected. When I wasn’t bobbing and wobbling back and forth, I felt like I was gliding/floating down the road, not planted securely to it.
Since then I’ve experimented by changing Yukon tires air pressure, WDH tension, trailer load (that is, I dumped the water). Same issues persist.
I borrowed a friend’s 2022 Chevy Tahoe that is rated similarly for towing purposes and towed using the same Blue Ox WDH. No issues whatsoever. I had said friend try towing in my Yukon and he noticed the difference immediately. So I think I can rule out the trailer itself as the cause of the towing issues and assume it’s something with my Yukon.
Any thoughts? At this point I suspect WDH and air suspension aren’t playing nice together (which is to say I think dealer followed the wrong procedure for setting up the WDH and I’ve since been making the same mistake). But could it be something else? Could the extra couple inches of wheelbase on the new Tahoe make a difference? Any other things I should be doing?
Seriously hoping I don’t have to join the “bought new truck because I can’t tow new trailer with old truck” club.
What would cause a tire to blow like this? Power King Tow Max STR
I have a new 22’ pull behind camper that has the Furion rear camera mounting dock. I bought an aftermarket camera/ monitor on Amazon that’s “Furion ready”. It mounted perfectly in the housing and attached power with a nice adapter cord to the Furion power cord. Problem is that it doesn’t seem to be getting power to the camera. Is there anything inside the camper I need to do? I checked the fuses and there’s nothing labeled for a rear camera. I found 1 empty fuse position but I tried a fuse and still nothing. I even hooked up to the truck and put it in reverse. Any ideas?
I went to a CAT scale at a Circle K, truck was on the middle and the trailer on the back scale. Trailer and truck connected. came back with:
Steer axle 200lb
Drive axel 2980lb
trailer axel 5540lb
total: 8720 lb.
>This cannot be correct. What is the best way to get accurate weigh? I will weight seperatly but want to see this first. thanks
If I pull into an RV park, just for a quick overnight rest stop, can I leave the truck and trailer all hooked up? Can I simply unplug the 7 pin from the truck and plug the trailer into the 30 amp shore power at the campground? Do I need to do anything else? Since I will have an electric car fridge/freezer plugged into the bed of my truck, I figure I just need to unplug it and bring it inside and plug it in there for the night, right?
The travel trailer dealership recommended this weight distribution hitch one year ago. I moved it for the fourth time since purchasing and noticed way too many noises. Upon checking I noticed the gouging in the trailer tongue and the WDH. The dealership that installed says I’m overturning and it has to be perpendicular to the vehicle for that to happen, I can’t say I ever been close to 90 degrees while towing or backing up, (although my truck does have rear steering maybe that could play a part into it?) I measured the useable radius at about 40 degrees either way, is that normal? Or should’ve chosen a different hitch?
I have a 2022 22 ft Jayco TT in excellent shape (used 3-4 times) we need to sell as we’re moving to Hawaii and can’t take it with us. What should I do to sell? I know we’re losing $$ but hoping to get market value at least.
