Experience with AO Globe?
After a year in claims, getting burnt out and seeing many white collar jobs being displaced by AI, it seems like leveraging my producer license might be my best shot in the current job market, as I have little higher education. So I've decided to try being an agent again. Of course I quickly got several offers for non-captive positions, including an agency within the AO American Income Division of Globe life. I started last week, and I'm feeling a bit uneasy about it so far. It's a 100% remote, virtual agency that provides warm leads through contracts with labor unions. The company definitely has an MLM structure to it, but that's not what bothers me. It's 1099, 100% commission, but that's not the problem either.
In short, onboarding and training has been a disorganized mess, and I already feel unsupported. The principal agent is this kid with no experience with running a business, or in the wider world of insurance. There have been delays in my onboarding due to errors and poor listening on his part. Expectations are not clear, especially regarding the schedule. I am often unsure of where I need to be and when. Their website with all the training materials can't even handle typical daily traffic so I can rarely access it during the day. The trainer who was assigned to me went on vacation after 1 day and then all his trainees got assigned to another trainer who is now pulling double duty and rarely answers my emails. The live classroom training has been entirely focused on presenting, scripts, systems and processes, with almost no time educating us on the products we are supposed to be pitching. So I feel unprepared to present to prospects and answer their questions.
I'm also concerned about the way they have us harassing these prospects. I was given 30 leads and told to call each of them up to TEN TIMES that day, with a text after every 2nd call, with 250 dials being the daily goal. Aside from feeling rude and spammy, I also noticed that the first time the principal agent texted me, it went straight to my spam filter. I REALLY do not want to make 250 calls a day from my personal phone if it's going to get my number flagged as spam. I have a 2nd job that involves calling clients, and I absolutely cannot have my calls flagged as "potential spam."
Anyone here have experience with AO Globe life? What are your thoughts? Should I just bow out politely and go with one of the other offers I have received?
