My sister is buying her first house and I had the idea to put together a big box of all the things you need when you get your first house but that you don't want to buy.

My current ideas include dish towels, sponges, batteries, extension leads and cleaning products. Is there anything that you didn't know you needed until you owned a house that I could add to the list?

Edit: so many good ideas, thank you everyone! Hopefully what I put together will prevent a few "oh we should have bought that" moments!
