Mould or eggs?

Mould or eggs?

I have a small crassula ovata in a terracotta pot. The pot has a drainage hole and the soil is a mixture of cactus soil, perlite, vermiculite and sand - not sure if that's too light for this plant but it's what I use for all my cacti. The pot is in a planter that's half glazed and with no drainage hole at the bottom. I lifted the terracotta pot out of the planter today and found this yellow stuff with little bobbles. What is it?

Saw this in South Wales today. I know who he is but what's he got to do with bins?

[CHAT] Will the finished piece look too blocky/pixelly?

I have a kit that comes with 14 count aida and this is the photo that comes with the kit. Will the edges of the design look blocky/pixelly like the photo when it's finished? I mean, I know there's no back stitching that would give the illusion of rounded off edges, and I know cross stitch is, by definition, in blocks but sometimes the computer generated images make things look more blocky than they really are, if that makes sense. I'm not sure I'm explaining it very well!

If I do this kit, I'll have it framed, so it's not as though anyone will be looking at it as closely as I am when I'm stitching it - so do you think the overall look will be 'smoother' around the edges?

I'm planning to stitch the white areas in cream or off-white even though the kit says to leave them unstitched as I don't want to use see the aida holes. I'd like it to have a vintage look but I'm not sure what colour to use yet.
