I had no idea Speed from 1994 was this good. The script alone is a well-oiled machine. And the score… the score is a movie unto itself.

It’s funny because I remember in 94? 95? I remember trying to sneak this movie home under the sleeve of another VHS (the Antonioni film “L’Avventura”) but somehow he knew the second I walked in. He held the case in his hand like an official checking a passport, slid the cardboard out so slick and I still remember his glasses kinda sliding down his nose as he’s looking at the actual tape beneath the case. He slides it back up, whoosh. Holds it high and looks at me calmly. “From where.”

I tried to play dumb! He just said it again slower. He wanted to know who had given me Speed. It was insane. It was as if I had brought home the drug colloquially known as “speed,” as opposed to the movie.

In your view, do the steps outlined below constitute the standard/best approach? If not, what do you prefer/recommend?

  • Fine grind (due to Drip Assist’s low agitation)

  • Switch closed. Pour 50% of water into center of Drip Assist, wait 40 seconds.

  • Switch remains closed. Pour remainder of water into outer ring.

  • Wait 2 minutes for immersion. Release switch.
