Hey guys,
Me and two mates are trying to find a place in Sydney and it’s honestly feeling impossible lol. We’re all full-time students, but the catch is only one of us actually has a part-time job right now. The other two of us are just living off family savings while we study.
We’re trying to figure out the best way to apply so we don't get binned immediately:
- Should all three of us be on the lease? Or is it better to just put the working friend on there and have the other two as "occupants"?
- If we only put the working friend on, is the agent gonna look at a part-time salary for a 3-bedroom place and just laugh at us?
- Does showing a decent chunk of savings actually help, or do they only care about weekly payslips?
We’ve all got good references (hope so) from previous sharehouses, but the "unemployed student" tag feels like a death sentence in this market.
If any agents or anyone who’s been in the same boat has some tips that would be huge. Cheers!
