I have come into possession of items that are from a young man’s first 4 years of life. Backstory for context.

A 21 year old man meets a 20 year old lady at work and they begin a relationship. From the outside it was a fairly drama filled relationship. She becomes pregnant and they marry. The baby they have becomes the most treasured tiny human on the young man’s side. He was an only child so this grandbaby is the apple of his grandma’s eye.

Fast forward 4 years and the couple are divorcing and it’s ugly. The child’s father’s mother has emergency custody of the child for a few months. During the proceedings the mother of the child requests a paternity test. It’s determined the child is not the biological child of the man who has been raising him. The court orders child immediately removed from the emergency placement with Grandma. Grandma never sees him again. This is approx 1999.

It is now 27 years later. The assumed dad passed away 19 years ago. From a search the biological mother passed away 5 years ago. I am in possession of hundreds of photos of this child’s first part of life, his baby book, totes and totes of items that were his things when he was a part of his “not real” Grandmas life. She adored him. She hasn’t seen him since that day.

She is on her death bed. The garage is filled with items from his time with her. I don’t know if he even knows she exists. I can see where biological mom petitioned the court when he was 10 to have his name changed stating his father was deceased. She never had the name changed when she proved his paternity, only after his father of first 4 years passed away.

My question - do I attempt to get these things to this young man?
