Is 10,000 taka enough to celebrate the birthday of two children under 12 ?
I’m looking for some advice and confirmation from people who live in Bangladesh, especially around Habiganj/Sylhet or Dhaka.
I have close relatives in Bangladesh, their children, who are both under 12 have their birthdays coming up this month. One girl and a boy. They live with their mother in a village near Habiganj, while their father works and lives in Dhaka.
Their father earns around 20,000 taka per month, so I know they don't have a huge budget for things like birthday celebrations.
I’m planning to send 10,000 taka specifically for the two children's birthdays. I’m wondering if that is enough to actually do something nice for both of them.
For people familiar with the cost of things in Bangladesh right now, what could you realistically do with 10,000 taka for two children?
Just trying to figure out how much 10,000 taka stretches in dhaka vs habiganj.
I want to send enough, I just want the kids to actually feel like they had a special birthday rather than the money disappearing into general household expenses.
I’m also being realistic here: I’m pretty sure their mother and father probably won’t spend the entire 10,000 taka exclusively on the children. I understand that money is tight, and I’m not trying to police how a family spends money. I’d just like to have an idea of what 10,000 taka can realistically provide for two children so I can decide whether that is a reasonable amount to send or whether I should send more.
If you’re from Habiganj, Sylhet, or Dhaka, I’d especially appreciate specific suggestions for places, activities, cakes, gifts, etc., and approximately how much they cost.

Ps. I would also like to know what jobs can a person get into that pays more than 20,000 taka, if they have no formal education or training ? only experience in retail environment. Thnx.
