Okay, my theory is Nia is not letting Danny drink while filming this season. And the scene on the train when Nia asked Danny to hold the baby so she could finish eating, Danny responds with, “I’m gonna go down and get a coffee then.” Repeating it twice to her. And Nia does not looked pleased with this answer. I think in this context “coffee” means alcohol.

So basically long theory short. Danny needs to drink in order to help father his children.
