Perma-Banned for an Old Argument, Appeal Denied and perma muted.
Instead of reviewing whether enough time had passed or whether people can change, the response was essentially take responsibility and here’s a mute while you’re at it.
I seriously don’t even remember the argument!! These mods are having a power trip. Since when does harsh language = PERMANENT BAN
Communities need moderation, but there should also be room for rehabilitation. If someone repeatedly harasses people or evades bans, that’s one thing. But if someone had a heated argument years ago and has a clean history since then, a permanent ban with no realistic end date can feel excessive. We know this is not good for the site.
I think a reasonable argument could be made that Reddit and or should just lift anyone banned for more than 2 years from any subreddit. How much time does someone need to take to rehabilitate on an online forum and think about their actions?
Sorry for the rant but I’m a little frustrated over this entire thing reddit needs a call of action on these mods abusing their seats. I’m a bullish investor but I know I’m not the only one being driven out of Reddit.
I use this site daily, and it’s sad to see what’s going on. I’m a Reddit IPO OG, i have seen the potential for a long time. Been on this app for 13+ years…. We need to have the elephant in the room addressed
I was a mod for fortnite sub for about 2 years so I know how it works. It’s a lot less clicks to perma ban someone than click 3 months, 6 months, 12 months etc…
TLDR: moderation abuse is getting out of hand
