There are striking similarities between the Sim Choice Award and Sunny's head, right?!
Or maybe it's just my imagination?

Or maybe it's just my imagination?
Hello everyone,
I wrote down my problem and took some screenshots. To have the text and the corresponding pictures next to each other, I created the 5 slides that you can see above.
I really would appreciate it if you could go through them and if someone has some advice for me!
(At the moment, it appears to me, as if MilkShape 3D messes up files in an undesired way - or I did something wrong.)
An der Hauswand, zwischen Hauseingang und Briefkasten.
Sonst begegne ich morgens eigentlich nie jemandem. :)
Hello everyone,
I recently stumbled upon the two file sets on the left. They are inside the Skins section of the .far file of the Superstar expansion pack.
The bitmap images of the texture of this "Fashion1" head look pretty much like the texture of Mortimer Goth's head, but there are additional white accents in the hair (at least for the lgt skin tone).
And the head is shaped in a more compact way, compared to the head that we know from Mortimer Goth. (As you can see on the right.)
And the "Fashion1" outfit just seems to be like the classic formal outfit that we already know since the basegame came out.
Have you ever seen this "Fashion1" head-body combination in your game?
I don't think that I have.
(And these aren't accessible when you create a new sim.)
I wonder if the files could have been made for an NPC that wasn't included in the final game? Perhaps for an NPC that was meant to be tied to a fashion object?
This is something I noticed:
At around 21:00 / 9 PM, the strays that are present will start to leave the lot. (If you allow strays and if you don't have a Stray-Away sign!) And depending on how many strays there are and where they are and which exits they use, it can look like a row of animals that wander around your house together, which looks kind of funny and perhaps a bit ominous. :)
It doesn't look so nice on a screenshot and it looks better in the game, but at least I can give you a small impression of this kind of "event".
Hello everyone,
I want to gather some observations and thoughts and perhaps you can contribute your thoughts and experiences, too.
In general, there seem to be four kinds of dreams: Topics, people, objects and needs (that are on low levels).
In the pictures, you can see Jennifer. She lives together with her dog Carmen.
I want to use her as an example for sims who live alone, because these sims often will have themselves in the thought bubbles when they sleep. Which is a bit strange. Sometimes though, she will dream of her dog.
And I have cases of sims that are living as a couple in a household, but they sometimes dream of themselves, too. And I wonder, whether this is on purpose or if it's kind of a bug? Because it doesn't look so right.
And if it's not a bug, then I wonder, whether it may be caused by a personality points thing, that sims dream of themselves?
Because in my game, it doesn't look like this in all households. I have the impression, that in some of my families, the family members will always only dream of someone else, but never of themselves.
What are your experiences and thoughts?
Hello everyone,
Some time ago, I wanted to have some alternatives for male sims in my game, so I tried creating boxers!
For the first design (satin, made from 100 percent polyester), I used the pattern of a shirt of one of the beach outfits.
And additionally, I wanted to have boxers with red dots, like the ones the David sculpture is wearing. :)
I tried my best until I was satisfied. I think both designs look good enough in the Complete Collection, but perhaps they don't look so nice in the Legacy Collection.
For the dotted boxers (100 percent cotton, by the way), I used parts of the classic pajamas from the basegame for the basic texture.
The boxers use one of the pajamas meshes from Hot Date. I only made files for fit sims, because for skinny and fat men, the short pants of that outfit have a different shape and these other shapes unfortunately don't resemble boxers so well.
Here you can download the skins and test them, if you like:
https://simfileshare.net/download/6147949/
I included a plain version of them, if you want to try to paint something on them yourself.
(My dots are rendered in different sizes, as the texture is stretched differently over some parts. I left it like that, but perhaps others know better how to get a better result.)
Hello everyone,
I'm asking this question, because when I once compared the original names of downtown lots with the names in my German version of the game, I noticed that "Cory's Place" isn't called "Cory's Place" at all.
In German, this restaurant is called "Bei Agnes", which means "At Agnes". It certainly is like when the French would call a restaurant "Chez Agnes".
And I wonder, is the name "Agnes" in that case just a coincidence or may there have been information about Miss Crumplebottom's first name back then and the person responsible for the German translation put that in for fun?
Because in the game, she actually just is a "Miss Crumplebottom". Only her husband's whole name is mentioned. And from the Sims Wiki I know, that she officially got the name "Agnes" in some version of the game after The Sims 1.
Oh, and I like it that in the German description of the lot, there is a play with opposites:
Traditionell und doch zeitgemäß. Lebhaft und doch gemütlich. So kann man das weltberühmte "Bei Agnes" vortrefflich beschreiben.
Translated to English:
Traditional yet contemporary. Lively yet cozy. That is an excellent way to describe the world-famous "At Agnes".
Original English description:
Traditional. Contemporary. Edgy. Comfortable. Eclectic. Just some of the words used to describe the world-famous Cory's Place.
And perhaps others, who play the game in any other language than English, can share how "Cory's Place" is called in their version of the game. (:
Please don't expect too much, but I think it's worth sharing. (:
The text that I found is:
Dieser possierliche kleine Freund erwärmt Dein Herz allein durch seine Gegenwart. Laß ihn Deinen Garten bewohnen, dann wird sich auch Dein Leben wieder einrenken.
which means something like this:
This droll little friend warms your heart just by his presence. Let him inhabit your garden and your life will go back to normal.
A text like this doesn't exist for any other language. The gardengnome actually doesn't need a description, as it is no catalog object.*
So in its corresponding file, for each language, there is either only an unused line that only contains the word "Description" or that contains the text of the Virtual Reality headset (for some reason).
But in the German section, the already mentioned unique text can be found.
It seems as if the person that did the German translations added these lines just for fun, even though they were not demanded.
I hope my overview is not too confusing!
* A gardengnome will only have something similar like a catalog text when it is in the inventory of a sim.
Which then is:
Since gift-theorist Warren Head’s seminal essay "Gnomes, Capitalism and Gift Societies," the hand-made lawn gnome has been the focus of controversy and questions: how do gifts function in non-shopping societies? Does the gift economy exist within markets, or as a joke about them? Does the Gnome Gift economy in fact act as a miniature simulacrum of the Capitalist economy? Is the IDEA of the gift possible at all?
I just felt like putting this together. (:
They honestly sound so nice and fun to me!
(I tried uploading this short video before, but it didn't seem to be processed by Reddit.
I hope it works this time.)
Hey everyone,
I recently noticed strange things and now I'm not sure if something has changed in my game or whether this always was like this, but I didn't notice it before.
What I mean:
(GIF on slide 1) When you sit down at a bar and order drinks, your date will also sit down and both will talk until the drinks arrive. But in my game, there are strange jumps in the animations, when the talk goes from one sim to the other. In the GIF you can see what I mean:
The sim suddenly will be sitting in a completely different way with no smooth transition.
There will be these jumps and then the animation continues normally.
This doesn't occur in any other conversations, I think. For example, when your sims are sitting in a restaurant, then there never will be strange jumps in the animations. The transitions will always be seemless and smooth.
Do you also have these chunky bar animations in your game?
(image on slide 2) When you are at a bar without tables and chairs and wait for cocktails and talk to your date, one sim will be completely motionless for some time. (Like I described it below the image.)
Is this normal?
(image on slide 3) The Bar interaction can be over for some reason after the drinks are served. In the picture, both sims didn't grab their drinks from the table.
I also had a situation, in which only the main sim would take their drink and the invited sim didn't. (In that case, it seems as if the Bar interaction only was cancelled for the date, for whatever reason.)
(no image/slide) Sometimes it doesn't work at all to get drinks for your sim and your date (at a bar without tables and chairs). I assume this is when too many other guests are there and counters are blocked. Then the bartender has not enough surfaces to put down your and your date's glass and therefore the bar interaction is suddenly cancelled. I think that this is completely normal.
Do you know these situations from your game?
It would be nice to know whether this is normal.
I hope, there's nothing wrong with my game. :(
Since Unleashed came out, it is possible to build houses on vacant residential lots and to modify (or to just explore) unoccupied houses.
I really like this possibility, because I like to prebuild houses, because then I can try everything as often as necessary and I don't lose money when I remove and re-apply and test wallpapers and so on. :)
And I sometimes like to change to the neighborhood view to check whether the house also looks nice on the map. Or whether its position is good.
This changing between the lot and the neighborhoodwouldn't allow to undo build actions and this would make me losing much money if a family was already living there.
But the music that is playing when you prebuild a house is a bit strange, isn't it?
Somehow I think, that the normal neighborhood music would be more appropriate. Or perhaps the Zydeco music from Unleashed, which plays when you modify a community lot.
Or what do you think? Have you ever thought about that? (:
What I also wonder: What music would be playing if you only had the basegame and Unleashed, but not Hot Date? (Perhaps the Downtown music was also on the Unleashed CD? But I'm not sure how likely this is.)
For me, the Stars like Christina Aguilera or Jon Bon Jovi don't feel right in a game like this and I don't enjoy seeing them in Studio Town. They just are simple NPCs without specific behaviors.
To be fair, Marilyn Monroe also doesn't have a special personality. But altogether with Andy Warhol, I like it, that these timeless and immortal legends are in the game. And it's always great when she appears in front of your house and gives you an award. :)
However, for Andy Warhol they created funny reactions and a nice unique voice and I really like him at the Photo shoot set. :)
Oh, and it bothers me when these other Stars occupy the trailer when actually my sim desperately needs it!
But if Marilyn Monroe needs to use it, I don't get angry. (:
