Depressing the clutch pedal always produced a squeak/creak sound and there was often a very audible chirping sound while the engine was on.
I've heard that Subaru throw out (clutch release) bearings were hit or miss, so I'm replacing it with an aftermarket bearing that comes with a steel sleeve so it's not riding on aluminum.

I have not installed it yet but I'm hoping this is the more reliable fix for these short-lived throw out bearings.
