Advice needed: Currently TT at an R1. Love the research, love the good students. Tired of so much drama. Have been debating leaving academia for another role still in university setting as it has presented itself. The main draw is going back to a place where I was a grad assistant, loved colleagues, and being back near my family.

My question is-if I do this would it be off the table to re enter academia one day in the future?just weighing options and deciding should I even bother applying or not?
