Repair guy told me he couldn’t fix it then texted my husband saying he had the part to fix it.
My GE JGB735SP1SS gas oven was giving off a strong gas smell a few days ago, gas company confirmed it was coming from the oven while it was on and also got a CO reading from the oven.
my husband called an appliance repair guy who come out. He initially said it was a problem with the computer and I should buy a new one. He never got an actual error code. I asked him to show me the oven while it was trying to heat and it was taken apart. We saw that the burner tube would burn out and it would eventually reignite.
He then measured the resistance on the sensor and it read 880 ohms while the oven was off. It’s supposed to be 1080. He told me about that but said I should still buy a new one because replacing the sensor wouldn’t fix it. Charged me for a service call then left.
An hour after leaving, he texted my husband (I was the only one home while he was troubleshooting the oven) and said that he had the sensor to fix the oven and gave an estimate cost for repair.
All that being said, I don’t know that I trust this guy. Seems weird that he told me one thing and told my husband another. I don’t know much about gas ovens but I feel like replacing the sensor won’t fix the problem?
