Part 9 of "A Thing Worse Than Hate."

So yeah, it's probably gonna be 10 parts. But yeah. So Natsuki is clearly still a bit not okay from the events of the base game, which I am trying really hard to make clear. I made this series with the intent of showing a different way Natsuki might react to what happened in the base game; fear.

And I am doing my best to show that fear of this kind doesn't go way with a few talks, it lingers though weakens with each day of effort. That is the main purpose of the Natsuki door scene. However Natsuki is getting more comfortable again, being able to actually read and relax and laugh.

Natsuki's poem is a reference to the one she wrote in the side-stories about her favorite place in the world. In this case, the bedroom is a replacement for the clubroom. You could look at it like a natural extension of that poem; Natsuki opened herself up to Sayori and thus the club has become her new favorite place. The bedroom being broken into and ruined is a clear reference to Monika's actions which have ruined her favorite place.

Sayori's reaction of not helping a lot felt bad to write because in truth, she hasn't really been a big part of this story. This is basically a Monika and Natsuki story, so the other characters got sidelined. If I rewrote this, I would probably add the other characters in more. But yeah, just imagine Sayori helped Natsuki a bit more, but you didn't get to see that, because it isn't a fixable problem an outsider can solve.

Natsuki not being able to show her poem to Monika reinforces the same theme, that this shouldn't be a quick process. I think that Monika not being able to write Natsuki's poetry is one of the most natural repercussions of her actions, she has hurt someone and the consequence of that is an inability to trust her with her heart.

Monika's speech about sharing basically speaks for itself, if Natsuki ever shares her poetry with Monika that will be one happy day for her. But also, Natsuki overcoming her fear shouldn't have to include it. Forgiveness is an internal process and it doesn't require the other party to happen.

And yes, Yuri and Natsuki can still fight even if they are friends now. Notice how the fight never becomes personal like in the base game? it is merely a different of opinion on the subject of poetry and that won't change because they are besties now.

As for Monika being unable to break it up, how is she meant to feel about to? All Yuri or Natsuki would have to say is "Stay out of this, you hurt us the most!" of course they wouldn't but it is the thought. On what basis, can someone break up a fight? Do you need some sort of authority? Do you yourself need to be above fighting?

So yeah, Monika's gonna need to get some confidence back before she can actually start being a club president and all that entails.

Oh no, Monika's drinking?!?! I wonder where this is heading? Also, I am not a coder so I just copied the console command from DDLC mod "Take Two" where Sayori tries to create a cupcake using the console.

Part 8 of "A Thing Worse Than Hate."

Don't worry, we aren't done yet. I still have like one part left probably, either way this isn't over until "The End" screen. So yeah, this is basically just a continuation of part 7 but Natsuki does get to bring this all back to the emotional core of why this hurts so badly.

Monika deciding to bring the club back is always a tough sell, I mean the base game ended with Monika's firm conclusion that she ended the world to protect her friends from the cruel reality of their world being a hollow flat game.

She believes that the game itself is made such that no happiness can be found there, so it was difficult to get to a point where she would bring it back. Guilt and isolation can really make you reconsider the situation you want to be in. But yeah. Also I am not a coder in any way so the idea that deleted files could have a protection bubble around them is something I made up. Though it is true that deleted files aren't actually erased instantly, more like they're lost and overwritten.

But yeah, if you have anything to say about this story, go head and leave your comments in the comments below.

Part 5 of "A Thing Worse Than Hate."

So, Natsuki planned to take back her manga from the clubroom. You know, I wonder if a mod ever had that as a plot point or a storybeat, because if you really want to show that Natsuki doesn't feel safe in the club having her remove her manga from the closet is probably one of the best ways to do it. It's one of the reasons why she joined the club in the first place.

Of course, Monika couldn't allow Natsuki to do that; one of the few good things that Monika's ever done is provide Natsuki a place to express herself and her interests, to have Natsuki remove her manga would be a gut punch on multiple levels. And so Monika chooses to leave the club. An interesting choice, but one that sadly makes sense.

Don't worry though, this doesn't mean Sayori gains the club president's powers, Monika is still the president in the game's eyes... it's just that she won't show up to meeting anymore and that Sayori will do all the decision making. The game isn't that smart at figuring all semantics.

So, will Monika actually leave permanently? Will Natsuki regret not squeezing Monika's hand? Does absence make the heart grow fonder?

Which AAI 2 culprit’s childhood would you like to see?

Okay, so we have a chess-playing trigger happy bodyguard, a two faced prison warden, a chef who the mannerisms of a ninja, a corrupt leader of a committee fighting against corruption, and a clown who is… I can’t think of anything. So anyway these are the newest contestants in “Who cares?”… to see their origins. If you had to see one of their childhoods as a movie which would it be?

What made these crazy people who they are today?… okay so we already know a shit ton about two of them but I couldn’t just exclude them. So maybe if you want to be creative just avoid them? What made this insane chef like this? Where does his utterly desire to be the best at the cost of everything else come from? Did he also have a shitty father or perhaps he was a weak person crushed by the weight of situations out of his control?

And what about that mad former chief prosecutor? Does his problem stem back to his childhood? Perhaps a lack of exceptional parenting allowed his mental illness to go unnoticed for years?

But I’ve talked too much, I want to hear what you have to say! What do you think the deal with these guys is? Did their awful personalities develop in childhood or later on? Were there any signs of their issues? Who were they once?
Headcanons, theories, I’ll take anything!

Which AAI 1 culprit’s childhood would you like to see?

Hello, I’m back! It’s been soooo long! Mostly because I was trying to decide if I should go to Ace Attorney Investigations first or Apollo Justice first. I decided on this. So just like last time, comment down below whose backstory you would like to see the most! Not the best lineup maybe but still their stories are bound to be interesting! Also I have a new idea: rank them from how much you would like to see their backstory with the first being the most and the last being the least!

Why do you think these people are the way they are? An demented veteran who lacks ethics, an agent with a creepy laugh who changes her identity, a rich person? Let’s chat down below!!!

As always, childhood is anything below 18 years of year!
