Which of the finale cases do you think is the MVP of finales?

Is it Turnabout Goodbyes?

Rise of the Ashes?

Farewell, My Turnabout?

Bridge to the Turnabout?

Turnabout Succession?

The Cosmic Turnabout/Turnabout For Tomorrow?

Turnabout Revolution?

Turnabout Ablaze?

A Turnabout Forsaken/Turnabout for the Ages?

Twisted Karma and His Last Bow/The Resolve of Ryunosuke Naruhodo?

Adventures isn't included since I see it and Resolve as one game.

So... which is the MVP?

who’s your fav and least fav main character?!

only including the mains not characters that appear on individual cases. i mean more so the prosecutors and assistants etc. like apollo and trucy and not lotta hart or dr hotti for example! tho they appear in recurring cases i rly mean the main characters!

so i’m wondering what main characters you enjoyed the most and the ones you dreaded when they were on screen. from all games!

Athena Cykes psychoanalyzes your favorite non-Ace Attorney character. What does she say and how does the session go?

What do you want & expect the 25th anniversary promo art to look like?

Want: An absolutely INSANE amount of characters to represent pretty much every case in the series, just like how the 15th anniversary art had small time characters so that every mainline game case had some representation (Viola Cadaverini, Machi Tobaye, Myriam Scuttlebutt, Herman Crab, etc.) Enough to create a darn good jigsaw puzzle.

Expect: Only major characters from every game, spin offs included. Maybe some mid-tier reoccurring characters as well. I think characters like Lang, Fender, and Gavélle will be included.

Working on a fangame with a similar structure to Ace Attorney cases, how can I best set up evidence and alibis?

It feels like it should be obvious to me as I’m a big fan of the Ace Attorney series and have made a fan case before (but only the courtroom part) for a project. I’m currently making a fangame though that isn’t Ace Attorney based, but is pretty similar in terms of mechanics/structure, and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to set things up for the player to discover!

I already have a full idea of who committed the murder, where everyone else was at the time, little side plots that happened that may make certain characters look suspicious even if they aren’t guilty, and all the relevant locations and objects. However, I can’t figure out how best to set it up. Where could evidence be placed so it isn’t obvious? Should certain characters be holding on to crucial evidence and only give it up in exchange for something? When a character is questioned, should they all be defense, or should some be forthcoming? Etc.

If anyone has any tips for setting up this “investigation” part of a case, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks!

Second post here! Have some Wright stuff for my crossover fanfic!!!

I scared a few weeks ago a pixel sprite of Wright so now I actually drew him!!! Take a draft too for confimation ig. I made Wright the protagonist of My fanfic (which happens to be a Fanganronpa and a crossover one at that) cuz he was pretty much the catalyser to make this third fanfic of mine! Now that he's done, I'll do Edgeworth next since he's also there :D. Sorry for the crossoverness at the end but i'm too happy of finally drawing him jsjs with all the... Others.

If I can I'll leave the link of my fic here, I wrote it IMMEDIATELY after getting into Ace Attorney so sorry if he's a bit OOC in the first chapter XP

If I can't then I'll happily oblige to the rules by deleting it

It's been a month

So it's been a month since the trial of Phoenix Wright. Does anyone know what happened to that Apollo Justice guy?

Seeing him defend that day made me feel hope in this dark age of the law, but he seems to have disappeared.

Protagonists are not usually the most developed characters, both in this series, and video games in general

Sure, I guess it’s kinda funny to joke about how “Phoenix steals the spotlight from Apollo in Ace Attorney 4,” but seriously. Video game protagonists are not defined by narrative significance or character development. They are defined by how much you play as them. In many games, the protagonist is simply your window into the world; very often protagonists have no arc and have fairly straightforward personalities, assuming they even talk at all.

In their debut games, Phoenix, Apollo, and Ryunosuke are all written to be a relatable everyman/straightforward hero. They’re regular guys living in a mad world, and that’s what helps the player identify with them.

Say what you want about Phoenix in AA4, but it’s definitely his most interesting portrayal. And it’s precisely because he’s not the protagonist, so they don’t have to write him like one.

In AA5, Apollo is an edgy loner who accuses his coworker of murdering his best friend. Why? Because he’s not the protagonist, which means he can afford to make major mistakes. In AA6, Apollo has a crazy new backstory and development revolving around his revolutionary adoptive dad. Why? Because he’s the co-protagonist and the role of “normal guy in a mad world” is played by the other protagonist.

Edgeworth is a bit of a different case. He’s the only protagonist who wasn’t initially written to be a protagonist. By the time of his first leading role, he was already firmly established as a rich, smug, hyper-intelligent, comically serious, jerkish, nerdy, morally-gray crime-solving machine with low emotional intelligence, a tragic backstory, a foster sibling who constantly whips him, you get the point. Basically, he’s not exactly the most normal person. So the Investigations games couldn’t really write him as a normal protagonist.

tldr: Athena would make an interesting protagonist because she was originally written to be the third in a trio of lawyers, and because of this, she‘s far from the most normal person. If they introduced a sole new protagonist at this point it would probably just be another flavor of what we’ve already seen.

Miles Edgeworth in Dual Destinies (rant/essay) [AA1, T&T, AAI2, and DD spoilers]

I have seen a common opinion that Miles Edgeworth is too harsh towards Athena Cykes in Dual Destinies, and that he would never act like that if it was written well, and this may be the largest & most common misunderstanding of Miles Edgeworth I have ever seen in my life.

EDIT: It appears that, when editing the post, it removed the screenshot of Miles Edgeworth saying "We have to treat everyone as a suspect -
Maya, as well as Iris. It's our job, Wright."

If Miles Edgeworth truly would NEVER suspect someone who might have murdered their parent based on his trauma from DL-6, SURELY, SURELY, Miles Edgeworth would NEVER have said this in Bridge to the Turnabout, also known as 92% of player's favorite case in the entire series. This dialogue is there for everyone to see, even to this very day, and alone should be enough to quash the idea that Edgeworth acts out of character during Turnabout for Tomorrow.

But I still see people insist, regardless of the above quote, that Edgeworth would not have been that harsh towards Athena.

So, let's look at context.

Aura Blackquill is currently holding his best friend's daughter, as well as numerous other people, hostage, and will not harm them unless both he and his best friend try Athena Cykes for the murder committed during UR-1.

If Miles Edgeworth were to be more lenient, and, lets say, not take his job as deadly serious as it must be in this circumstance, what might happen? Perhaps Aura Blackquill might start to break the bones of the hostages, which would seriously harm Trucy Wright if she were the hostage chosen. So it might be in his best interest to take the trial as seriously as possible, especially since he knows that Phoenix Wright is capable of facing against him and actually standing a solid chance.

But let's suppose we want to ignore all of that context, and ask "why didn't he just refuse Aura's request?"

In AAI2's ending, Miles Edgeworth continues to be a prosecutor on the basis that he should use his position to save the people that a defense attorney could not. Simon Blackquill is in such a position where he actively refuses any help from a defense attorney because he believes that he must take the blame for UR-1. In other words, he is someone who cannot be saved by a defense attorney, meaning that only the opposite side of the courtroom could save him: A Prosecutor. He tries to take on the Blackquill case, and I know what many people would immediately try to counter with: "Why did he wait until Simon's execution date to act?!"

The answer can be found in Japanese laws. Assuming that Japanafornia takes more inspiration from Japanese laws (given that the original series is set in Japan), Article 476 of Code of Criminal Procedure Part III states that "When the Minister of Justice orders the execution of the death penalty, the death penalty shall be executed within five days."

Miles Edgeworth may have a lot of influence as Chief Prosecutor, but he is NOT the Minister of Justice. Also, as an important reminder: Clay Terran was murdered on December 15th. This throws a wrench into Edgeworth's ability to personally investigate UR-1, not to mention another active investigation happening: the bombing of HAT-2. This creates an issue, where he'd literally need everyone out to investigate by himself and a few trusted partners, something that he literally can't do until December 20th, in which Aura Blackquill holds hostages, which necessitates that no one, except those that she allows, enters the Cosmos Space Center.

You can blame him for not starting the investigation process prior to December 15th, but from his point of view, he had no reason to believe that Simon would be executed anytime soon.

This isn’t even talking about how Edgeworth treats Athena with respect and integrity, as proven with lines like this:

"…Hmph. It appears Ms. Cykes is much braver than you, Mr. Wright. What say you, Your Honor? In light of her courage, will the court give Ms. Cykes this opportunity to confess?"

Now, after analyzing ALL of that, I think I've made it abundantly clear that Miles Edgeworth acts very reasonably (aside from that one line at the very start of the 5-5 trial which, yes, I am upset about, but the moment that it passes, it's smooth sailing) during Dual Destinies, and I am tired of seeing people state that he isn't.
