It is my first time in DR - Puerto Plata, I would hate to stay in the port - please, avoid to recommend "Port has a nice shopping area with a pool and lazy river" I have a feeling, I could then stay on the ship as well. Did you have the same opinion, but then changed your mind after some excursion? I would like to see or experience something other then the pool and shopping or just beach. I have $50 discount from FAS, so that contributes to have NCL Excursion at more normal price.

My idea is Waterfalls ... is there any recommendation to combine them with the beach or buggies/ATVs.

Also, what about the equipment when you go to waterfall, I would like to have my mobile phone with me, which is possible if I would have some waterproof bag attached to my body. I read some experiences, it is possible to do that, but also guides can have your staff ... what about backpack ... How long you don't have it ... From the time you arrive at Waterfall do the bottom or even longer?

I have just ordered some Crocs sneakers, just in a case I take that excursion ... 😉

Any other recommendations?

Sun, Sand and Shopping - I also think it is useless although it would be free with my excursion credit -- anyone took that one?

I think 4 hours in total is not much (excursion), but when you are in St Thomas 8 hours and with public ferry only every hour plus cab to ferry port, you don’t have too much time in St. John anyway. The only thing, you can save money on your own or even “On Your Own”.

Is it easy to catch the cab on the island and back from Trunk Bay if on your own? How much does it cost?
