Has anyone been to the South Texas Book Festival?

I was sitting at the light today and noticed the banner for the South Texas Book Festival coming up October 24th at the McAllen Public Library. 📚

I love a good book fair, but I’ve never actually been to this one. For those who have gone in previous years, what’s it like? Is it a pretty big event? What kind of authors usually attend, and are there other activities worth checking out?

Just curious if it’s worth making a trip out there. Would love to hear y’all’s experiences!

McAllen’s online utility payment system feels outdated compared to other RGV cities. What do y’all think?

I recently compared McAllen’s online utility payment portal with neighboring utilities like Mission, Pharr, Edinburg, Brownsville, and even South Padre. While McAllen has invested in technology, the online payment experience still feels older and less user-friendly than many of our neighboring cities.
I started a petition asking the City to continue modernizing the portal with a more intuitive interface, additional payment options like Apple Pay and Google Pay, and a review of the convenience fee.
I’m genuinely curious—have y’all had similar experiences, or do you think the current system is fine?
