Thinking of new build after 12 years

Hello everyone! Thanks in advance for your help on this subject. I build my own pc 12 years ago when Hearthstone was cool, and Crysis 1 was the most taxing game on the market. Now my PC is FINALLY getting to the point where I feel its necessary to replace the whole thing as the speed is lacking. Especially when I run multiple programs, it struggles.

  • New build or upgrade? - I'm thinking this will be a new build, but if the parts I have are serviceable, I'm not opposed to using them.
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? - unfortunately I don't remember the individual parts of the PC, but I do know that I have a relatively (physically) small build compared to a lot of what I see nowadays. I could probably move over the harddrives if there is no issue with that, and I COULD reuse the monitor, but I think I'd probably want to upgrade since this one is so old (not sure if this is just consumerism or if its a warranted opinion)
  • PC purpose? - I am a musician and have recently gotten into recording and video editing on my computer, so I'd like the CPU to be able to handle those kinds of tasks. Also, the lower the sound of the PC is, the better since I don't want it in the background of recordings when I'm recording to PC. I also teach music lessons online via Zoom, if that helps!
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? - I'm in Dallas for now (close to Micro Center), but am moving to Winnipeg, MB Canada soon. (another reason I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the build now)
  • Monitors needed? - I just use one 24" monitor, and it's plenty for me. I mostly care about the speed over the resolution, and honestly the price is more important for me.
  • Budget range? - I'd like to keep the price under $1,500 USD
  • WiFi or wired connection? - I have an old wireless card that probably could get updated, but I generally use ethernet through a power outlet splitter.
  • Size/noise constraints? - I'd prefer smaller and quieter if possible (the sound is more important since I'm a recording musician)
  • Color/lighting preferences? - no colors please lol
  • Any other specific needs? - none that I can think of rn.

Again, thank you all!
