Built a free tool that generates weekly + season awards for your league. What would make you actually use it? Looking for feedback

I made ffawards.app in 2024 and just finished a full redesign ready for this season! If you wanna try it out it currently only supports 2025 season, obviously, lol.

I know most other free fantasy apps like these are really in-depth and analytical... , but I wanted this to be quick simple and straightforward. Gives you awards and fun facts, share with your friends and that’s it. It's also completely free and doesn't require an account. I wanted this to be as easy/straightforward as I could make it.

What I'm working on now:

  • Finishing adding new and same awards for the other providers (mainly Sleeper and ESPN)
  • Provide a proper ESPN private league login instead of the current workaround... still working on figuring this one out.

What I'd love to hear from someone who would enjoy/use this:

  1. Would you use this? If not, what's missing?
  2. What awards or fun facts would make your league actually react in the group chat? Right now I have some awards in Yahoo that are missing in Sleeper, e.g., "Goose Eggs", among some others.
  3. If a paid tier ever existed, what would be worth paying for? (Everything current stays free.). e.g, if I were to add "some AI feature"...., I WOULD have to charge for this, but would anyone actually want/use any AI feature? Idk.

My current stance on the site is that you just go to it, add your league, look at your awards and that's kinda it. So what more would you like to see then?

Thanks and happy to answer any questions!!

This Bonita nearly pulled my arm off

I meant Bonito but yeah… this was probably the most difficult fish I’ve ever caught. I usually shore fish but went out to a deep sea charter on Friday and man this thing was a beast!

Any other experienced developers just not have the time to prep for the difficulty of interviews?

during my unemployment period, there were multiple jobs that were transparent about the interview process. While I appreciated the transparency, it was also a bit taken back that some where four, six, seven plus rounds in total. Like what?? I personally have a young family and with the wife picking up more hours, I obviously had more responsibilities at home, and with that barely any time to search for jobs, do interviews, and then restudy/relearn all my Data Structures and Algorithms for the leetcode challenge. And why?? If they’re just gonna Make me us AI to prompt my way to not writing a line of code. Guess it’s my fault for not being a cracked engineer? Lol

And not just parents I imagine if someone currently has a job and perhaps less responsibilities at home, how are you gonna explain to your employer that you’re gonna be absent for an hour plus the coming weeks? oh and also time to study and prepare for the interviews.

again maybe it’s my fault for not keeping up with DSA, i guesss if I really really wanted the role I should’ve tried harder? Idk I really wonder if anyone else felt this way? Just not having the time due their stage in life/situation? just screw me I guess

PSA: Yahoo Fantasy Football Devs, changes have been made to the developer API...

Hello fellow devs, I was preparing my side project for the up coming season when I saw what appears to be, that, Yahoo has made changes to their API ...well sorta. It seems now that you have to "apply" to use their API, however I am not too sure about this since it seems you can still make APIs in their developer portal, but only have READ access, no writes.

This is the new site: https://sports.yahoo.com/developer/ -- wayback machine shows that this site started appearing around early May

Along with the form to submit for approval, lol https://sports.yahoo.com/developer/access/ -- the information on the form makes it appear that you won't be able to create developer apps anymore soon but I was able to make one, perhaps brand new accounts can't? Or maybe they haven't rolled out the change yet...ugh

Hopefully this doesn't change too much but there appears to be some extra disclaimers as well, such as having to include text and their proper logos if using their API now.

So yay.... I haven't seen too much into any API changes yet (other than new doc pages finally, but at a glance appears to just be ported over) but so far my apps appear to still work so I think we are OK for now...
