Hi everyone,

I’m running into a serious issue with DaVinci Resolve on my MacBook Air M3 (2024), and I haven’t been able to fix it despite trying multiple solutions. My system and DaVinci Resolve are both fully up to date, and everything was working fine until recently.

The main problem is that my timeline has become completely unusable. The viewer is entirely black, and I can’t play or scrub through any clips. The play and pause button doesn’t respond at all, and even dragging clips into the timeline sometimes doesn’t work. In some cases, clips do appear in the timeline and I can see the audio waveform, but there is still no playback whatsoever.

What’s confusing is that the interface itself is still responsive, so it doesn’t feel like the software is frozen. It seems more like playback or rendering is broken. I’ve already tried restarting both DaVinci Resolve and my Mac, creating a new project, deleting the render cache, making sure I’m on the Edit page, and adjusting GPU settings between Metal and Auto, but nothing has worked so far.

At this point, I’m wondering if this could be a GPU-related issue, a corrupted setting, or possibly a bug with the latest version of DaVinci Resolve on Apple Silicon.

If anyone has experienced something similar or has any idea what might be causing this, I’d really appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance.
