Looking for opinions on an impossible situation

Looking for opinions on an impossible situation

Hello, I am hoping to get some insight on recent work I had done on my engagement & wedding rings at a jeweler in my town. Both rings are 10k white gold. Here’s the work I requested be done- I had the rings soldered together, had them re-sized from an 8.5 to a 6.5, had the rings rhodium plated, and I asked for them to check the prongs to make sure they were secure. When I picked up the ring everything looked great. I am attaching a picture of the ring right after I picked it up.                                                                    Later that evening I looked at the ring & the center diamond of the engagement ring was gone with the two bottom prongs broken. (I do know that I didn’t knock the ring on anything in the few hours I had it.)  Luckily, we found the diamond and I took the ring to the jewelers the next day.                                                                      I left the ring with them for repair & they said they’d have the manager call me to discuss what happened. The manager told me that it was absolutely impossible for the prongs to break because of something they did, especially because the diamond was secure in its setting when it left the store.                                        What I am wondering is if it is in any way possible for the prongs to break causing the diamond to fall out without me having done anything to the ring. I’m not going to go to the jeweler with your opinions either way, I just really want to know if it is truly impossible. Thank you for reading this massive post & would love any opinions y’all may have!

Who else has tried these & absolutely love them? I think they are so good! I've never heard of this brand & I'm hoping they have other delicious flavors.
