GIM Requirements in Cardiology HST

I’ve searched the Gold Guide as well as the JRCTB Cardiology and GIM curriculum handbooks but cannot find the answer, so here I am.

Could someone please direct me to where I can find detail on the requirements for GIM during cardiology training? I read somewhere that if you’re in a DGH then it’s expected to do both on the rota and part of the GIM curriculum - acute, I think?) needs to be completed towards the end of training (ie the last 3-6 months). And that GIM training is not compulsory if you’re a HST in a tertiary centre. I can’t seem to find where Iread this, though.

I’d appreciate help with pointing me to the correct resource to verify this (or to see if I’m wrong). Thank you.

Frustrating ARCP process and training generally

Posting for advice as I’m very frustrated on behalf of my partner who is in higher training in a competitive specialty. As someone not in training or medicine overall, I’m finding navigating this extremely challenging and unsure how to support.

Partner is LTFT but had to do ARCP at the same time as other colleagues- no issue, all requirements met. Everyone else’s outcome has been released, partner has been informed verbally and is just waiting for official documentation. Keeps hearing that there are “comments” and people are “unhappy”- although, apparently ARCP has been passed with outcome 1, all requirements met, and no one’s dissatisfaction has ever been communicated so we have no idea for the reason behind anyone being upset.
At my suggestion an email has been sent to the TPD to ask for insight and advice. Who else can something like this be discussed with, aside from TPD? Why is information shared piecemeal? I understand everyone is busy but why are concerns not shared as they arise? How on earth is anyone going to address issues and grow?

Partner has had difficulty scheduling time with ES over the past year, and feels unsupported by colleagues and consultants. Understand there are always going to be personality dynamics, partner is already quite socially awkward. Understand that not everyone needs to be friends but when your colleagues include trained consultants from other countries who get more access to lists and opportunities than the person meant to be learning, and you are ignored and excluded by most, it’s natural to feel upset- not being anti IMG here, partner is an IMG as well who’s been within the NHS now for over six years. It’s all incredibly stressful and frustrating, and I wish it wasn’t this way.

Sorry if the title doesn’t make sense but hopefully my question below is a bit more coherent:

For those of you who have used a disabled person’s railcard for a companion pass (from the UK) :

I know I can use my disabled railcard to apply for a companion pass for the global pass.

Can I also do this for a single country pass?

Thank you! I can’t seem to find a clear answer on the website and thought I’d ask here before contacting interrail.

Hi, I impulsively booked a long weekend (Sat-Tues) for my husband and myself in Lille at the beginning of August. We’re taking the Eurostar so I thought we could go immediately to Rouen for two nights, and then come back to Lille the evening before leaving.

I checked trains on SNCF, and not only are there very few direct trains, but they’re also super expensive (over €80 for two people, each way = €160 + total).

I understand that August is a busy time and the height of summer (I don’t think I’m coming during a national holiday?) but is there any chance there might be a sale or something? Or are there other affordable options that I’m not thinking of? I did look at FlixBus but the timings don’t really work.

If anyone has any advice I’d love to hear it! I don’t think Lille has enough for me to fill three full nights. Is Amiens worth a visit, too?

Thank you so much in advance.
